It sounds like your nylon driver spool went ka put.....there's repair kits available, or I do have one working unit that someone stole all the top fittings from it....

    It's just lying around.....

Take it apart and see if that's the case......

I had the same problem and all it took was a lube of the antenna and it worked perfectly.

I don't think they used anything special. WD-40 should work. There was also a small bend in the antenna which was hampering its performance. I lost points at my last concours because the antenna would only go partly up.

You can use WD40 to make it work again, but WD40 also removes lubrication so you have to put in new lubricating, I use Teflon/Silicone lubricants and it works fine. Just wipe it off with a rag.

There is a nylon line inside that acts like a fishing rod -- it turns one way and pushes the line out to extend, then turns the other way and retracts the line and antenna. If it breaks, there's nothing connecting the motor to the actualy antenna mast, so the motor just turns and nothing moves externally.

If the motor sounds normal, but nothing moves, this is your problem.

If the motor sounds like it is binding, then it actually is jammed.
