I finally started on my (Faux) carbon fiber interior. This stuff is amazing, easy to work with just make sure you do plenty of prepping ahead of time.

All you need is a heat gun, super sharp blades, a steady hand and plenty of patients. I started on the easy stuff first, then progress to the more difficult ones. The easiest was the speedo/tach face the hardest was the steering hub, the climate control face was tedious but fairly easy.

This 3M product kicks a$$, it is textured, reflects light & looks like the real stuff. If you make a mistake you just heat it up and all the wrinkles go away. Almost works like rubber but much more durable, I pulled at this stuff hard and never tore once.

I am not saying it's easy to put on, but anyone can do it, you will need strong fingers ;).

Next is my door sills, I will do them on Thur. I will post pics of the interior when it is all together.

    Okay your car ...

The world is going crazy with pointless "looks like carbon fibre stuff". Heck some m/c guys even add carbon fibre chassis covers to their bikes which actually make it heavier because it is for looks only.

    Sorry don't get it.

well, this wouldn't be pointless for someone with a scratched up, faded or gooey Ferrari plastic bits, another possible solution for a more durable surface.

I used this stuff on one of my other cars. It works really well. Just make sure you pay as much attention making sure the adhesive is fully stuck on the underside as you do on the top (visible part) I made that mistake and the underside came up.

That looks great. I agree that the CF "look" can be overdone, but the ability to rehab parts that otherwise aren't perfect is very cool.

Where does one purchase the 3M material?

    great job!

is real CF in strips as well or is it a liquid then layed in molds? I saw the making of the Z06 and it looked like strips.

Exactly :), my interior was OK not great now it looks as good as the rest of the car.

Good point, and yes I made sure to get everything ready a head of time. I degreased all surfaces then applied a primer sticky paste to all the underside of each piece.

There will be some small imperfections here and there but if you take your time 99% will be perfect.

If you go to anyone that applies the clear bra they are bound to have this stuff also. That is where I found mine.

Steve sure I will do your parts for you :)

Since you apply the stuff with a heat gun, I reckon the heat is not a problem. May give it a go when I do the major and start painting stuff.

How heat tolerant is this CF sheeting that youre applying or the adhesive you are using. can you give out what youre using specifically?
    thank you

Just ordered some to try on the little triangles by the side-view mirrors. If those turn out well, then i'll continue with the gauge cluster and center gauge pod surrounds.

It is incredibly heat tolerant, I have seen a car today with it's entire hood covered in this and look great.
