I was just checking Ebay for Ferrari 355 and the average number of owners is 4. There was 1 car with 8 owners! WTF...

It's like buying a parrot, some buyers don't fully understand what they are getting into.

I think most sell before the belt service is due and/or get their first repair bill and it breaks the bank for them and they have to cash out. I love the 355 but it's an expensive habit.

Is it ok to install shields on the wings?

That darn parrot has cost us approximately 3k per year in vet bills, food, toys and boarding, etc over the last 10 years. And that doesn't include his $2900 SS cage. He's(Enzo) my wife's bird.

As much as I admire the 355, everything I hear is this is just about the most expensive F-car you could possibly own when it comes to maintenance. Scares me to think about it actually.

I'm happy with mine, but I do know from driving 355's, they are a delight to experience them in motion!

A few years back, I was driving the PCH on the way to BH from Malibu in a friend's 355 Spider and blew a front tire doing about 80+, the wheel broke apart, spun us around and landed on the side of the highway with very little NOTICEABLE damage, but plenty was done to the undercarriage. That was on a Saturday evening. Monday, we walked to BH Ferrari and learned the car had way over $90K in damage so he bought a 360 Spider and drove it home! He laughs about it to this day. Not many people get to say they've driven or owned a Ferrari, and I get to say I've sent one to the graveyard!

I still admire them, but I'm afraid I'll bypass the 355 altogether when it's time to move up. I've heard way too many stories of $20K+ repair bills.

Everything that nasty creature touches is sticky and/or damaged. If anyone is considering buying a large bird -- DON'T. I have to use a power washer to clean his cage.

4 owners for a 10+ year old Ferrari is a lot?

I see so many people sell after a couple of years, so that seems right on par

Not par for me. I've owned my 92 tb since new, but then we have kept that stinky bird for almost 11 years - with no end in sight.

I'm sure that, in a lot of cases, maintenance scares people away. How could it not? The prospect of having to add additional service to the already costly normal stuff can be a tough pill for many to swallow. BUT...as many members here prove, a lot of folks just like to experience different cars periodically. It's kind of a "car person" disease. If all of the records are there and the car is solid, hey, go for it. Of course, I bought a car that had been with the previous owner for 20 years. I think that is VERY cool and speaks volumes about the car, especially considering the fact that the previous owner is a Ferrari fanatic...but I wouldn't say there aren't some great cars that have been passed around a bit. Just be careful :)

Those stories are NOT the norm. 355's are VERY reliable cars and have a few quirks as all models do.

IIRCC, those birds have the ability to live 50+ years. My Grandmother had one many yaers ago that spoke 3 languages and sung in Italian and she was the 2nd or 3rd owner of that bird. Much like a Ferrari, her bird was passed on to several additional owners before finally passing.

They live up to 90+ years. We had provide for him in our will, and since no sane person will take him, we have to pay a bird refuge to take him.

No, sold my late father's 348. My 355 is on the market, but I'm not a motivated seller. Wife wants to buy a 2nd home, but I am on the fence. Every time I drive that damn car I think to myself there's no way that I can sell it!

Sorry Jerry! I definitely LOVE mine (maybe too much). I haven't had any personal experience. I've just heard bad stories. It's encouraging to hear positive ones.

Hey Jerry, the car is great my friend. You have no idea how much of a joy it is to have it. It's a blessing and a privilege owning it. And it came at the right time in my life. I may not have been in a position to buy it had it been a couple weeks later. I've hit a financial pot hole that's really tough getting out of. You of course know my story. Well financially I'm not doing so well.

I've been hit hard, but I'm not giving up. It's going to take me a few months to get back on track, but I'm up for the challenge.

Here's a pic of my garage since I decorated it! I gotta little carried away but it was fun and I love pulling her in and out.

I hope you and your family are well.
