Guys, if he really is a teenager as previously mentioned earlier, then he was a young and impressionable boy in the year 2001. What this means is that his favorite childhood movie probably was "The Fast and the Furious". A whole generation ruined!

Unfortunately, I know it's unlikely this person is a teenager, which makes this thread and topic a very saddening one. He's probably in his 20s - 30s, reads Sport Compact Car, and attends So Cal "Hot Import Nights" shows.

The OP flushed $50K down the drain, he couldn't even sell that car for $10K if his life depended on it. A good driver in a gently modified early 90s Miata would embarrass this car on a track.

That's great but no matter what you do to it, it's still a Honda.

    JDM,

your car wants to grow up and be a Ferrari. And the beginning of a race and at the end, its still a Ferrari.

I have owned many Honda and I have never been followed so someone could take pictures, never gone to the gas station and made a mob scene because people wanted to take pictures NOR caused accidents from people trying to look or take pictures or have girls throw their G-strings in mi Honda at a light.

REMEMBER this... speed may make a guy get a woody but a Ferrari makes panties fall and mouths fall open...

when you experience this in your Honda THEN come see US Ferrari owner.

PS, speed=$$$ the more you spend the faster you go. I think many Ferrari owners could spend enough to dusk that Darth Vader looking Honda but once you buy a Ferrari doing so becomes pointless.

The OP reminds me of those goof balls you see driving a Chevy pickup with a cartoon guy pissing on a Ford. Is there really some huge difference????

OK, I bet you that my car can beet your Honda on a race track.
    Rules:
    A) bring what you got
    B) fill the gas tank full
    C) we run until the tanks are empty
    D) most distance wins

I could beat your car under these rules with anything from a Prius to my F355. And at least in the F355, I can do it in the comfort of A/C <track rules permitting windows up>.

But, my queston back to you is:

Why would anyone want a race car that can only race for 1/4 mile at a time, when you can have a race car that goes for 70 miles tank?

Somewhere, somehow, on a Jap Car Site, a Mopar guy is posting:

"Someone explain to me why you would spend $50 grand to hop up an economy car, cover it in unnecessary carbon fiber and duct tape, and the slap on huge clown tires on the front? Why, I could build a MOPAR in my garage for $10 grand with a big blower that would beat you stop light to stop light..."

OP is full of crap. 617 hp does not make an 8.3 second 1/4 mile car. 8.3 second 1/8th mile, maybe. It takes at least 1000 hp to run a 1/4 in the high 8's (a Veyron has 1000 hp and runs the 1/4 in the high 10's, Enzo 620 hp runs the 1/4 in low 12's). An 8.3 in the 1/4 would need about 1600 hp and a suspension setup that would be dangerous on the street.

May I add: Why buy a Ferrari? If you need to ask that question, then you will never own one.

Lol!! I've seen the poster "Justification for Higher Education", but I like your idea better :D

So here's my story of why I bought a Ferrari

The picture below is of me about 25 or so years ago, I was around 10 years old. My dad took me to the Scottish motor show and I came face to face with a Ferrari for the first time. Since that day I told myself one day I'd have a Ferrari, in November last year that dream came true when I bought an F430 and it is without a doubt the best thing I have ever bought.

I didn't bother going to the honda stand when I was at the motor show.....

Here's my explanation to earlier saying spending $70 grand on a car like this ($20K to buy it and $50K to modify it) is "worthless".

It has value ONLY to the original owner. The next person would want something completely different.

Therefore, it's worthless. It has no value to anyone else. It's similar to objects that have sentimental value. To you, it's priceless. To anyone else, it's worthless.

NOW, if the same person spent $70K on a used Ferrari, he would have something of value.

My point was it seems a bit silly to spend all this money on something that can go fast from a stoplight but has no other value or meaning aside from it.

Why would somebody spend $200 in a fine restaurant when you can get food at McDonalds for $4.99?

Answer this one and then you know why some people buy Ferrari's.

The best part is that no one has "coughed" (bull****) about the original premise.

A civic isn't going to do low 8's with 6xx hp.

A friend of mine has one of the fastest civics there is - over 900hp and barely makes
    the low 8's.

A Yoda said: "I sense much fail in you".

It's all bogus. True 8 second Hondas look a little different than what he posted. There should be a turbo intake up front. The HP, times and cost don't add up either.

    It's BS (but fun).

This really is not related but I saw this on Jalopnik right before reading this so I wanted to share. (Honda trying to get into a U-Haul) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P_t8lVDt2RM&feature=player_embedded

As far as the question I don't own either but one day I will own a Ferrari, more then anything I use it as my motivation to work hard. Also like the post a few above this I remember my few first times seeing them and I was just hooked.

If your asking, "why Ferrari?", I suspect you are somehow not as satisfied with your civic as you might suggest.
