I have a couple tiny rock chips on the fenders behind the rear wheels, and before I put clear bra over them, I wanted to touch them up.

My car: 1995 F355 Spider. Color: Rosso Corsa paint code 300/12

Step one, order touch up paint by the paint code from Express Paint (I've had good luck with them on paint for other cars). I order 300/12. I receive 300. From what I understand, the "/12" means that it's single stage paint (no clear coat). Apparently no one makes single stage paint. Anticipating this, I also ordered clear coat to blend with the paint. Bad news. The paint didn't match at all. Not bright enough. The factory paint is much brighter and a bit more orange than the "300" I received.

Step 2: A friend knows the paint guy at a local shop that specializes in European car repair. They have Glasurit paint (the folks that made the paint on my car). I asked him to ask the guy for 300/12. Once again, I got 300 and a side of clear coat. With or without clear coat, it's just not the same color as my car (which has not been re-painted).

Step 3: get desperate. I started blending my own, using touch up paint from the local auto parts store. At about 20 hours in, I ran out of red and picked up some more. While I was there, I picked up some "GM Bright red", and gave that a try. Much to my surprise, all by itself, it's as close to a perfect match as I've ever seen. Better than anything I was able to blend. Better than the Porsche paint that I bought from Porsche for my Porsche.

So there you go. $8 at the local auto parts place.

    On the bottle it says
    "NG GM 398" and
    "Bright Red 81, WA 8774"
I know you can all see that on the photo, but I'm typing it out so text-searches can pick it up.

I recommend blending it 50/50 with clear coat, if you're using it as a single stage paint (not doing a top coat of clear).

Almost forgot. The brand is "Dupli-Color"

The test spots are on the rear panel, which I removed and replaced with a Challenge Grill. I've since removed the test spots. If you don't leave them too long, and don't de-grease the surface before putting them on, the test spots come right off by chipping at them with a fingernail :)
