Tires?

You'll get the usual responses here which will include Michelin, Goodyear, Pirelli, etc. But I'd like to recommend BF Goodrich g-Force T/A KDW 2s

I currently have Goodyear Eagle F1 GS D3s on my 308 GTB and have been very pleased with them the past 2 1/2 years. They've been discontinued but I'm sure their replacements are just as good. But I currently have the g-Forces mounted on a spare set of OEM wheels for track use with my 550. They're absolutely fantastic both on the track and street and I prefer them to the Michelin PS2s I have for street use. They might look a bit radical for the 328 but if you don't show your car you'll be quite pleased with them. They come in the stock sizes you are currently using. I think you'll also be pleased with their pricing.

Dla, there are lots of good tires available in the stock dimensions, and you'll get some good recos no doubt.

If cost is a consideration, the Goodyear Eagle GT's are a very good tire - more all season than dry track stars really. They come in your stock sizes for roughly $120/corner. Your 328 probably came new with Goodyear Eagles so it's kind of cool to stick with an original type tire.

Incidentally, I put these Eagle GT's on my 16's but in a 225/55/16 dimension - the slightly higher profile improves the ride a little bit and takes some revs off on the freeway (~3,500 rather than 4,000rpm), which is more relaxed driving.

i just polled a similar question, see thread above. I chose dunlop direzza's as a good balance of performance and cost. I put them on this saturday adn then shortly after blew out my fuse block, so i havent had a chance to run them hard.

These questions, along with others like "whats better, carb or QV", everyone always answer with what they have/own. I guess that means we always get what we want...

 

For tires, evaluations aren't much use without including the common use type (city, highway, track; summer, all season, dry only, etc.)

I chose US spec RE-11s for city driving, because Auto-X tires typically don't need a lot of warming up. (Long traffic lights produce cold tires.)
In stock profiles (55,50), the soft sidewalls give up just a little crispness on steering response. (They're more often used in 45 or 40 series.)
So I'm not sure I'd recommend them for highway driving on stock rims.

After seeing what tires are available in the appropriate size, you can google search the tire type and find reviews all over, on all kinds of vehicles and use. A bit of web research can give you a handle on a tire's strengths and weaknesses.

There really isn't "one `ring' to rule them all" . (Unless you count the Nordschleife. )
So you have to do some research to find the tire that's right for your driving.

 

I am running Toyo RA1 in 225/50X16 and 255/50X16. I am probably over tired, but I like the look, the feel and the comfort of these tires.
