    Thanks for the comments guys.

Just to finish off the thread I made an interesting discovery the other day(well it was interesting to me )

When I bought the car it had a cherished number on it and it took a while for the previous owner to change it.Log book came through with as expected the original number the car was first registered with, didn't pay much attention to it and just filed it away.As the car is getting closer to completion I thought I'd better sort out some plates for so dug out the reg doc for the number and sorted the plates.Anyway, the other day I needed to check something and opened up the Keith Bluemel book "Original ferrari V8" turned to the 348 section and got to pages 82 & 83 where there are 3 pictures of a Chiaro Blue 348 Spider which looked strangely familiar. Also a few pages on there is a 4th pic of the original interior..Then it hit me, it was my reg no and my car pictured in the book, how good is that :D

Just goes to show that with some time and effort and a little hunting around, one can restore parts cheaply but effectively back to original status. I am impressed that he shopped around locally and found small shops willing to do the work on the cooler, stainless steel hose, etc. that saved him a ton of money but makes no difference in operability or originality. I like the ingenuity of painting the intake crinkle black, it looks really cool.

I believe its standard for Eurpean cars not NA cars. NA car intakes have heat fins on both side, symetrically placed , whereas his obviously has only two on one side, asymmetrical. I like his better too!

Stevew, I really admire the whole mirror investigation leading you to the Jaguar mirrors internals. Again, it just goes to show what a little work and a lot of investigation can do to save one money instead of paying $$$$s from the OEM, and you still get OEM. WOW! The color looks great! Inside and out!

Thanks, the mirror internals are std on numerous cars.A friend had a spare set of mirror internals for his Nissan which are the same, these are now part of my spares stock.
