There seem to be 2 pistons available for the 308 qv, one manufactured by borgo and the other by Mahle. The question I have is whether they are interchangeable and whether the compression ratio for both is the same?

The design of the top of the piston looks quite different. The Mahle is flat topped and the Borgo is higher on the sides with cutouts for the valves

    Any advice greatly appreciated.

    Thanks MB

Typically, in the US-spec QV, the pistons and liners are Mahle. These pistons are concave. In the the actual piston diameters are slightly different, they really shouldn't be interchanged. Mahle pistons use a "green" dot liner, where as the Borgo's use a "red" dot liner, with the difference being a .05mm bore diameter. The part numbers for both liners are the same, with the suffix being either a "G" or a "R". The "G" liners, although scarce are more common.
