Why so difficult to sell?

Yellow is odd? Not for everyone, but wouldn't call it odd...

Ugly wheels? I guess everyone has an opinion, I wouldn't call factory Challenge wheels ugly. At one time guys were paying crazy money to get ahold of a set...

I am asking $52k for my car, not even close to 360 money for a great one...

 

I'll keep mine before I sell it for fire sale money. Good thing is I don't need the money as much as I need the garage space

When it comes to selling A Ferrari, no matter what model, RED color is what sells first. I had a 348 black tan and I couldn't sell it for the life of me, I ended up trading it for $50000 and that was 9 years ago when red 348 were selling for $75000 +.

 

I concur with your contention. The upkeep/value ratio has slipped into the red zone for 355s. The F1 gearbox, and its expensive pump, is part of the maintenance horror stories for the 355, deserved or otherwise.

I agree, it's a fad, but easily corrected. If the Right Car came along, I would just use the aftermarket wheels as a negotiating point and/or try to get the OEMs.

Disagree with the "No matter what model" part of that. My black metallic 328 moved pretty quickly, because IMHO (and in the opinion of several interested buyers) it looks great and you can buy a nice red 328 any day of the week (assuming you enjoy 'Magnum' comments).

Also, on the big luxury Ferraris (550/575, 599, 612, etc.), red probably isn't a terribly high percentage of the colors ordered.

 

I chase down and pass 360F1 with r-compound tires with a F355 M6 on street tires all the tmie. It is the skill of the driver much more than the capability of the car (90%+ of the time).

Now, given equal drivers, the 360F1 on r-compounds should be 8 seconds a lap faster than me on streets with a manual.

 

in a nutshell - too much choice thats better and or cheaper.

i was looking for a family ragtop and have been thinking a modial for 25K - but the new mustang 2011 with the 3.7 v6 has 305hp a warrenty and NEW for the same money... and im leaning towards the mustang now and it wont cost me a penny to service.

the 355 is in the same boat - too much, top expensive to maintain for what you get in the market place... plus too many fcars to choose from now we are all toast as owners.

 

I think your metal black 328 moved fast because it was YOURS. And.... you're a well known "quantity" around here (some would even say "well-respected" ;-)

+1 for sure. I would still bet that the "first Ferrari" for most people is RED. It's getting to the point where 355s can be a 1st ferrari for most people. Most current generation would consider the 3x8 series to be too "vintage" for them.

Now if your first ferrari is less than 5 years old, well then you probably could afford to get those other non-red colors to distinguish yourself from the rest of your family.

70-75k will get you a fantastic 360 coupe. a very very nice convertible can be had for those numbers! especially an 02 in terrific shape and just under 20k miles.
