Hi, I'm new here and about to buy a 328 which is in really good condition. I would like to keep it that way and to avoid stonechips I have seen fabric protection to put on the front. Does anyone know if this available for the 328, and in that case where?

There probably is, but frankly, I think the money would be more well-spent on a "clear bra". That is, the thin clear film that is applied to the front of the car to protect against stone chips. A good friend of mine has done it to his Cayman, and they applied all the way back to the doors, so the entire nose is protected. Invisible to the naked eye, and I think a better solution than a strap-on fabric type of bra.

You might even find someone right here who can apply it for you.

    Good luck.

    Firstly welcome fastfreddie. :)

Yes agree 100%. I haven't put it on yet but will as soon as my car is complete. Many use it and speak highly of the product.

There are companies who apply a clear plastic to the vulnerable areas of the car such as the nose and wheel arches.

I have seen photos of a 911 GT3 with this treatment and when done well you'd never know it was there. Works wonders apparently.

There are companies that make removeable vinyl bras for Ferraris. I happen to be selling one made by a company called Speed Lingerie. It's for a 328, it's red and it has been used once.

    Cheers,

+1 for clearbra. have it professionally done. From what I've found here locally, I think it's about $400 or so to just do the front edge, and about $1000 to do the entire front 1/3rd of the car.

Call some local high end car places and find out who they use. The installer's proficiency seems to make all the difference.

Yes I believe Speed Lingerie has one for the 328 in the correct colors. Sorry javadog, I missed your post was distracted by a vicious Yorkie.

The clear wrap has an advantage over a front cover in that you can get the sills done too.
The sills are one area that gets seriously blasted in all 3x8 models.

I was not happy with the Speed Lingerie one. The texture on the nose badge and fog lights rubbed and it flapped at speeds over 50. It was correctly installed, though required fixing a cutout that was manufactured incorrectly. Cost was over $500 in 2002. Customer service was unsatisfactory. I removed it after one month. Mine is black.

I would get a clear alternative.

    My original post on it:

Last winter I purchased a front cover for my black 1989 Ferrari 328 GTS. I have some comments after using it for about 8 months.

    1. The quality is very good and the fit is spot on.
    2. However, there are some points that I don't like. The cover flaps very loudly at speeds over 30 mph. At 120, it sounds like two flat tires and can be heard inside the car with the windows up. It flaps along the top edge above the turn signals where the body curves out for the wheel arches.
    3. The fit is good, but it crooked around the turn signals. A little too low. The clips at the fender are aligned properly with the seams. I did have to create one slit on the driver's side for the body seam, which I had emailed you about when I bought it.
    4. Along the top edge under the hood, the hood has a support bar running front to back. When the hood closes, this rubs the leather and is creating a tear about one inch below the clip, center of the cover under the hood.
    5. At the bottom of the clips in the wheel wells, both sides are tearing away from the leather, about an inch each.
    6. Since all Ferraris are very low, they all scrape. Without a cover, this is easily absorbed by the lower valance. Put any Ferrari on a lift and you will see scrapes. With the cover, if the car scrapes, the cover rubs the ground and tears since it goes all the way below the leading edge.
    7. The fog lights have a textured surface. These rub the inside of the clear inserts and scratch them. This is also happening on the nose emblem.

The cover has been taken off three times and reinstalled by myself and the Ferrari dealer, following the directions exactly. It is installed and aligned properly, but the above comments still occur. Three friends in the local club have Speed Lingerie covers, and have similar comments. (2 328's and 1 355).

Overall, the cover looks great, but the small details are not in line with a $600 product. I don't want a refund or return, but I cannot recommend these covers to other Ferrari owners.
