So I've been a Ferrari Fanatic since 1989, since the first day I laid eyes on my neighbors Rossa Corsa 86 TR when I was 6 years old. I enjoy watching the designs age for the better but sometimes for the worst. Also, time has taught me to keep an open mind to the new designs until I see them in person. WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON WITH THE INNER TAIL LIGHT DELETE???? The first time I saw the 599 I was unimpressed with the progression from the Maranello. Then you get to the back of the car and scratch your head. WHY?!??! Not a fan of the 599 at all, and I have to cut it some slack it's hard to outdo the 550 and 575 which is IMO aging every bit as good as the 355. I get it. But I just don't see any Ferrari soul in the aesthetics IMO. It looks as if they tried to go with a classic design in the front with muscle every where else instead of grace and sleek lines. Now we're on the 458. At first glance I'm thinking it looks pretty good but not that great. I look at it more. I LOVE it. It's a wonderful progression from the 430 and although it has a few Enzo styling cues I think it is unique in its own right. Then I get to the back of the car and AGAIN, NO inner tail lights. WHY?!?!?! It looks HORRIBLE. If they want to switch up from the 2 circulars why not try slatted again but in a different fashion? Just make it work. I just don't get it, luckily the 458 is a damn good looking car and can overcome it. Can't say the same for the 599. I'm excited for them to do away with it and bring out something more gritty to take its place.

You've answered your own question: Because the focus group monkeys get erections for the tacked on taillights of the Enzo.

Why? Because the Italians ran out of ideas & are now just copying Japanese cars. The 458 looks too much like a Celica & an Eclipse.

The days of yore were full of Ferraris with single taillights...

    :)

What goes around comes around. Just wait another forty years.

...Seriously? Maybe the 599, but the 458? Check your 'scripts.

And how does that relate to the op's complaint of single taillights?

Indeed. It's the current execution that's abominable.

HAHAHAHAHAHAH. The irony!! The C5 definitely took the tails from the 355. Oh the C6 is definitely guilty of mirroring that 360 I tell you what, what a laugh that was! Let's see what they copied.

    1. Front hood silhoutte
    2. Wheels
    3. Rear Boot
    4. Front Headlights
    5. Mirrors

I'm sure I left out a few things but there goes the obvious!

You probably want to look again, the C5 taillights look nothing like the 355. C5 lights aren't even a circle.

I think that the others who chimed in were able to answer that...Spend a little time learning about Ferrari history, the vintage section is a great place to start.

LOL, so you're basis is that both cars have two taillights. lol

The Corvette's lights are obviously oval and recessed.

Do oval tail lights look like circle ones, sure, they kind of do. But why are you even bringing up the C5? The c3-c4 Corvette tail lights are actually round and would be MUCH closer than the c5.(even the c2 had four round tail lights) So by your logic, I guess Ferrari copied corvette. Cars were make before the 80/90's, maybe you should learn a little more about car history before trying to make ridiculous comparisons.

If that's the case, Nissan Skyline/GTR owners are in trouble too.

It wasnt that long ago people said that about the 550 and how it looks Japanease.
The reality is, Ferrari has, and continues, to change the design in the industry as a whole.
