Very well executed! Fred
wow, pretty cool work Tom. but are you sure about the exhaust system? i have a video from Classic Le Mans 2010, where this car drove too and it shows a single exhaust system similar to the 356 Carrera GT http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2193/3540245612_080bfab86f.jpg atm i rebuilt this 246 GT for my Le Mans 1970-72 Mod for GT Legends. your modell shows a lot of details any chance for you to get technical details?
That is NOT the original car that runs at Classic Le Mans. Just made up to look like it. This is the original. Mark Shannon p.s. Copyright unknown to me. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Hi, Thanks for the comments. I have a few old color photos of the car, so that helped with detail. Also I have a few photos from books, including Lemans Ferrari. You can't rely on the internet for information and photo needs. Here is a photo of the rear exaust with two tips. This is a 1972 Lemans race photo, not a restored car photo. I think my tail pipe tips are slightly to long, but they look cool that way. I plan on adding driving lights soon and one more marker light for the trunk cover. It looks like it had 1 square marker light and 2 normal marker lights on or near the rear trunk I had BBR and Looksmart 1/43rd models of this car that were not correct in several ways including decal placement. That made me decide to build my own. This 1/24th scale model kit is by Fujimi, photoetch by Hobby Design and decals are hard to find by Studio 27. Wheels are available if needed. One of my friends did them and cast a bunch up in resin. Hotwheels is making this in 1/18th, but that is a factory build diecast, so im sure it will not be perfect. Very nice model Tom. Here's another photo with #02678. The Dino is tired but finished the long race. Image Unavailable, Please Login
#02678 was also entered in the Watkins-Glen 6 hours race in July but did not start. Some photos here: http://www.vintagerpm.com/watkins-glen-1972/?album=1&gallery=7
Thanks Giotto. That photo shows why several model companies have messed up the sponsor placement. The stickers fell off during the race. Also the drivers side sticker placement is different than the passenger side. Tom Tanner/Scale Designs/Ferrari Expo 2011 model contest and expo-Chicago April 2011
I thing that I found the car. The Dino is still in south Italy and is painted white today. The Chassis No. is #1278. I have contact to the owner, maybe next year we will see his Dino racing at the Nürburgring. Best Nicolai Image Unavailable, Please Login
That`s not the Targa Florio Dino from 1971.... Wrong chassis no. And a Dino with the chassis no. #01278 is owned by a gentleman in Hamburg, Germany Regards Matthias
Then there are once again two cars with that chassis No... I still believe that this is the car, the story I was told this weekend fits very well. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Correct chassis no. of Mr. Napolis white 246 GT is #01298. It`s not the red Targa Florio Dino from 1971.
I don't know if this Dino s/n 05656 was converted in period, but it has many competition features. I saw it at Classic Car Associates (Marcel Roks and Rudy Pas) in Breda, The Netherlands in June 1988. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
The modifications have been done by the Belgian importer Garage Francorchamps. When it was actually done isn`t known... but the car had a crash in the early 80ties. Past 1988 nothing is known about #05656. Do you have any idea where the car is today? Regards Matthias
That's it atm. What do you think? Mirror needs a rework and the Rallylights will be added. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Can a kind of a sectional cat-scan of the incredible rendering you have made, be done? I would like to explore the possibility of making a wood model, 1:1. Congrats! Alberto
hi guys! one question: These black areas are they right or are they red painted on the real car? Image Unavailable, Please Login
