Here on the side of the road, tow truck on its way 78 308, Pertronix Was stuck in traffic for one hour Both slow down light cam on, flap in airbox snapped shut, car kept running Both slow down lights came back on, airbox flap opened Did that once more, could hear the airbox flap snap shut Then she died, won't start When ignition key turn on I can hear fuel pump, but no dash gauges active Popped the airbox cover, manually goose carbs and gas is squirting from pump jets Thoughts? When you turn key to third position (fuel pump on) do the gauges activate (can't remember)
Well, I can guess why the slow down lights came on. They airbox flap shut causing a rich condition overheating the cats. First thing I would check are the hoses to the airbox flap
It took two hours for the two truck, apparenty someone jumped from the golden gate tonight, so traffic was bad. The fusebox: The upper connections of 1 and 2 are brown and melted. Not bad, but definately not good. Everything on those circuits are dead, which includes the electrovalve, instruments, and high temp control system, which explains the warning lights and the airbox flap behavior. While they are brown and melted, it still looks like there should be a good positive connection. Is a little brown and melting enough to shut that circuit down? Obviously it is. Also, what component on the 1 and 2 circuit is preventing the car from starting? the electrovalve? Ie, if you pull the 1 and 2 fuse will the car not start, or do i have another issue?
Well the birdman fuseblocks arrived today. My sequence of events 1) remove old burnt fuseblock 2) install new birdman fuseblock 3) go for a nice drive in the northern california sunshine 4) recieve visit from CHIPS for noise pollution Still, all in all a great day!!

Glad you got things working again Geno. These words from Birdman should ring in the ears of all 308 owners: "There are only two kinds of Ferrari OEM 308 fuseboxes: those that have left you stranded and those that will. "
The relays should all be changed too, they're 25+ years old, cheap and easy to do. You can replace all for about $100. Between Birdman's fuse blocks and the relays , you can eliminate 95% of electrical problems in 308's.
The strange thing is, the car seems to run better, fire stronger. I'm sure there is nothing to it, but just like when i change my oil, the car seems to run better. Whats up with that?
