Roommate is looking for a set of tires for his 997. He can't find the Continental Extreme Contact DW's he wants, but the Hankook Ventus v12 tires are easy to find, and quite inexpensive ($800 installed). Does anyone have/like these tires?

(I wasn't sure what section to put this in, so I went where the traffic was, move if appropriate).

They have very good overall reviews from the people I talk to. They have ultimate dry grip in line with the Falken Azenis RT615, but much better wet traction. They are not good in cold weather. They wear fairly quiskly with about 10k miles per set average. Good for a summer tire at a good price. I've got a set on a car being bult for me in Kentucky. Pic attached. The front right and rear left tire need to be switched as they are directional.

I have these tires on my F355. They are great tires. Low noise, smooth, excellent dry grip. Can't comment on the wet grip, haha. When you factor in the price, I think they're a great choice. Plus, Hankook sponsors F1 on the Speed Channel :D

I have them on my 997, coming from Michelin PS2 and i am very disappointed. The car is more comfortable but i dont have the same confidence going fast on curves. My 911 doesnt feel as planted as before. I will go back to the Michelin when these are done.

That's what he was afraid of, but at half the cost decided to try the Hankook's out.

    Thanks all who responded.

same here, put them on my 996 GT3 as a cheap set of highway tires. There is a thread in the Porsche section (started by amenasce) with a fair amount of detail on them.

short story: bad on rough/grooved pavement, more susceptible to crosswinds at highway speeds. decent grip (I've only driven them in the dry), good wear, great price. but you get what you pay for.
