Law school is going to keep me a bit busy, but I have it in my "I *absolutely* will do this" list for summer break. Even got the cash set back.
You have no idea. The first year the T-28 maint money getting things right could have bought a Mondial, maybe two.
I feel better now, thanks. I don't mind spending for the maintenance on the cars, the upkeep on the planes has always kept me away from them.
You have no idea how many days I wish that I could get back to it. I reminisce all the time and and wonder if I could still handle a Stearman without killing myself. Of all the airplanes that I flew, that will always remain my favorite. I mainly flew the 220 HP versions but I was able to fly a 300 Lyc. powered and got some stick time in a 450 HP but I will always like the 220HP and the 300 HP versions.Such a sweet airplane.
You'll be able to fly this. Slow and docile stall, if any Champ airfoil, 4 ailerons, big rudder. Simple stick, rudder and throttle; Oh yeah, fuel master and ign. switch - that's it. Slow approach Big wide gear Big fat tailwheel, mechanical heel brakes with skids ahead of main gear. Tons of low end thrust. Slow. LSA. This airplane is being designed where I (or anyone) can fly it safely as I get older. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Russ- Looking forward to seeing it. Make it dual control and many people can fly it who would otherwise never get the chance. Removable stick and rudder pedals in the rear. Did you hear about Fred Murrin's 60th birthday party? Taz Terry Phillips
Russ- Not until 4 September at Greenville Airport, PA. 1800 or so. Kind of a fur piece for both of us. Taz Terry Phillips
I am hoping you, Bob and many of the AvChat guys will get to fly around in it. While not a fiercely strict WW1 replica, it allows a lot of good folks to get closer than they might. It's been my experience that warbirds, or historical oriented aircraft are more enjoyed when shared. Image Unavailable, Please Login
