Yes. The rental company is called 'Push Start' and it's based close to the Ferrari factory. 400 got you one hour in the 458 Italia.
My friend rented a car from them two weeks ago, he eventually chose a 430 Spider and paid 70Euros for 15mins. He had to sign up to 10,000$ in damages just in case.
I don't think it's Push Start's 458, unless they have more than one. I drove theirs a few weeks ago and it has red calipers, front plate in the center, and an Italian flag badge under the Pininfarina badge. This crashed car doesn't match. The yellow Scuderia, however, that drives by is Push Starts.
Jalopnik claims it was an owner's car : http://jalopnik.com/5612075/ferrari-owner-wrecks-458-italia-within-24-hours-of-purchase
Sorry, my mistake. A few months back, a member on another forum posted about his experience with Push Start. He drove both the Italia and the Scuderia and uploaded several pictures to his Flickr account. After seeing this thread I had a look and saw this picture of the same Italia. I thought this was the one he drove but, after seeing your post, I wasn't so sure so I looked through the rest of the set and saw this one, showing a different Italia outside Push Start. I'm not sure if the crashed car was a rental. Jalopnik is claiming that it's a brand new car that the owner picked up yesterday. It may be a customer car, but it most definitely isn't one day old.
did you notice the hazard lights were flashing? doubt if this was necessary, as anyone walking along the sidewalk could easily spot the vehicle!
I don't think it's from Push Start. I looked at the pictures I took when I drove their 458, different license plate, different colored brake calipers. I drove it a few months ago. I'll get in touch with Stefano, the owner to make sure. That sucks. Poor 458.
It was the one for rental ! But it wasn't from Push start. The rental company is called PIT LANE( there are to diferent company's that rents ferrari's in front of the factory. Push start is the other one and they have a 458 rosso corsa with the black roof) I test drove the car on august 14 for 1 hour on the italians alps. The car looked perfect. the only problem was that the bracking pads were almost finished. I was showing on the dashboard that it had only 50 km left. I don't know if it is related with the crash or it was really finishing. The co-pilot was all the time concerned abourt that. Here is a picture of the car (08/14/2010) !
