HELL NO! That picture scares me! I tried that once back in the early 80's. I was NOT successful AT ALL!

Oh man....just seeing these boards brings me back!! Def jealous of the collection there. I'd love to score two boards. Corey O'Brien's Grim Reaper/Fireball from Santa Cruz and and any Cab board!!

Time to start hitting e-bay!!! :)

At the end of that summer we were all hitting the coping. Never was able to get air, that was a little to wild. I can't believe I just have one picture after all those years skating. No phone cameras then. No phones either.

Dude, that is the old school ****. I started skateboarding around 73'. My first was a used Nash (1960s) bought from a high-schooler for $2.50.

I later had another board that had Bigfoot wheels. This was before the sealed bearings. You put the ball bearings in the races and had special wrench to adjust the races and lock it down with the outer nut.

I finally in the late 70s got what was state of the art. A G&S Fiberflex with Tracker Trucks and Kryptonics.

My buddy had an aluminum Banzai deck with Road Rider wheels. Remember Alligator wheels that were green? Back in the 70s the decks were skinny compared to what came out in the 80s.

Check out the old adds here: http://www.calstreets.com/site/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=123&Itemid=130

I just wish I still had my Skateboarder magazines from the mid 70s :(

That Banzai board was ahead of its time. It must have been one of the first boards with a front kick tail. Check out this old school collection:

It really is amazing what some of these guy's can do, you know "My Name is Earl"? the tv show? well Earl was a professional skater before becoming a actor.

Also google videos of RODNEY MULLEN, I guarantee watching this guy will change your whole perspective on skateboarding. For example he invented the 'dark slide' if any of you know what that is.

You should checkout Jason lee in Video Days!

Dark Slides :) Most of the stuff kids are doing today, down stairs, handrails and gaps ware invinted by Mullen in the 80's!

Search Chris Haslem and then Daewon Song Vs. Rodney Mullen!

Here ya go Rob---My brother bought this around 1987/1988 new, sat in storage until about 3 years ago, He had the tires, seat and grips replaced because they were dryrotted. He gave it to my oldest son for his Bday that yr. My son has been riding it since and loves it...

I found out that the Hosoi is NOT an original. Now my GREAT find turned into just an OK find.

I found a link to the magazines I had in the mid 70s. Back then we skated without the safety stuff that came later, helmets, knee pads and elbow pads. It mentions the second wave of skateboarding declining. Yep, in the late 70s I went from skateboarding to BMX.
Note the skinny decks in the mid 70s. Wider ones came out in the late 70s. http://vintageskateboardmagazines.com/Skateboarder.html

I remember reading those magazines cover to cover. Just watched the dvd Dogtown and Z-Boys again because of this thread. Great movie to relive and experience that period. I would give away my ferrari in a second to hang out and skate a pool like that again. Enjoy your youth!

I think it is a bit older then that. Based on the size and shape, seems more like mid, maybe late, seventies.
I love those early split axle GullWings.

I was just about the comment on the awesome condition of the Christian Hosoi. Sorry it's not the original.

I sold my childhood Powell Peralta Skull and Daggar a few years ago on ebay for $150 and thought I got every penny for it. Shoulda held on...

I have yet to buy that one. I always was a Santa Cruz guy and my cousin was a Powell Peralta guy so he had the Skull & Daggar and I use to act like my Steve Olson was better. And now if I but that Peralta... I'll be a hypocrite. :) I'll get it soon, but mine will be a reissue.

Nice picks. You really need a Lance Mountain ;-) I think I'm going to pick up a couple of the new Caballero reissues- the Navy full dragon and the Black dragon and bats. I'd like to find an NOS "Ban This" deck too but haven't seen any come across eBay.
