Okay so for all those who don't know, I totaled my spider earlier this month. I found a replacement in Chicago and I'm flying out tomorrow to collect.

Off my old one I pulled my authentic Scuderia shields off the car. One of them I had a lot of trouble removing the stickiness off the backside so I got the brilliant idea to try using acetone and rub it out. BIG MISTAKE!

My figures rubbed much of the finished side off so I just said the hey with it and soaked it completely off which gave it a billet shine.

Has anybody ever applied Scuderia shields to their car without the original finish?

How do you think it would look on a black spider? Replace them altogether? Try them on for size like this? Have them Chromed? Paint them black and apply?

For me, the beauty of the shield is in the contrast it provides, especially on black or red cars. Also, the heritage of the shield would prevent me from altering it, even if our cars never had them to begin with...but that's me, and I am, admittedly, a little weird. :)

As an aside, I thought about putting some on mine, but I haven't found an option that is quickly removable AND original-looking.

Anyway, congrats on finding a replacement, Tony! What are the specs?

I tend to agree but didn't really know what others would think. I've never seen it before...don't mind being the first but certainly hate the one man army!

This is a 95 348 Spider Black & Tan w/ a Tan Boot (generally black aren't they?...course I've still got my black boot from my other car). It's clocked 16K miles on it with all records and ran half the course on it's last major. The car is just as beautiful as it can be. I'm really pleased to have found it so quickly after my acccident.

D/FW FCA Members has a rally we're doing in mid October and you don't want to miss this. The guys who put it together did some major homework on some good routes to take. It's going to be a blast in the new one!

Name doesn't ring a bell, so I never looked at his. Jay special thanks for all your helpful tips. I enjoyed talking to you very much. I'll shoot some pics along the way and try to update at least once a day on the way home. That's right, I had so much fun driving Jerrari's home from Michigan, I'm going to do it again. Speaking of that, Jerry I sure I hope I'm as lucky the second time around. You and you father had a gem that was truly loved. No matter how much I appreciate this one, I'll never forget the experience and admiration I had for my first!

It does look sorta cool but on a black car, all I could think was..."a Raiders fan would do that" and then I thought "...actually, a Raiders fan would get rid of the horse and replace with skull & crossbones".

Try it for a while. If you hate it they're easy enough to replace.

    NOW you're talkin'!

When my cousin and I were doing some freshen-ing up of my 348, he threw a bunch of that type of crap in the basket to be funny. I particularly like the skull door locks. I thought I should install them and take some pictures to send to Ingenere so he could fly to VA and shoot me in person. :)

I personally like the look, but only as a wall piece or decorative piece. For your new car, you should just get a new pair of Yo-Shield and slap them on.

I think if the rims had that goldish hue to it it would look amazing (ala bandit T/As), but Im also a sucker for factory looking stuff, so I would be very torn. It has kind of that what kind of special edition is this look. Since the raiders have already been brought up, do the steelers thing and just put one on one side and see how many people notice. jjking of course.

Tony, add those stripped shields to the "shrine" you're building for the old car, and order a set of new ones. Geez!!!... :p:p :D

Regarding the top boot, I've been told that the newer spiders (late '94 and '95) came with boots that matched the interior leather. Mine is an early '94 and it came with a black one.

But you could also try using a ball polisher on them. Hmmm...

I think it'd look pretty cool on a black car. find a photo shop guru and have them mock one up for you.
