"ENOUGH" Stop the cr@p. How many of you have problems with your memory? On the last corner , on the last lap, in the last race of the year Hammo pipped Massa for the WDC. That, was exciting...

I watched that over and over. If Glock hadn't lost traction and had to lift, Hammi wouldn't have made that pass.
(boredom is a state of mind, NOT a state of being)

I agree. This is the first season in almost 20 years that I just can't get excited about :(

I was thrilled before the season started at the prospect of Lotus and Schumacher being back --- but, there just doesn't seem to be anything interesting going on. And, the politics and other BS keep getting worse and worse.

F1 needs a regime change to get me back in.

My apologies if my question sounded "wrong", and thanks for the considered answer.

I too was involved "back in the day" - Was working at Surtees when Mario won the championship. Back then, while it was getting more "business like", I agree, there seemed to be more camaraderie, teams would help each other out etc etc. [Well, Ferrarri & Mclaren have never been best buddies, but you get my point ;)]

It's certainly not "personal & clubby" anymore, but neither is it "broken" IMO - It still has the best jockeys, the best technology, the best brains (and the worst!). As for the politically correct drivers, seems they can do no right - If they dare to speak their mind, they get reamed by someone (the money men, the fans, Bernie, the FIA etc) or if they shut up they're just corporate drones - There's a *lot* of money involved, and I guess you can't please all the people all the time.

Mosley should STFU, Bernie OTOH remains the ringmaster and I very much care what the poison dwarf is up to - All a part of the show! In fact Bernie is the one who dragged 'em out of the "old boys club" into the huge money making club they're in today - You may not like that development, but it is what it is and I for one still love it for what it is - No overtaking and all! [BTW, you really are out of touch - There is no fuel strategy this season ;)]

I'm glad I asked, and I appreciate your response. I'm certainly into more than "rah-rah" though.

    Cheers,
    Ian

For what it's worth, I just want to see great racing on track. I want to see nail-biter finishes. I want to see underdogs win. THAT's excitement. Whether in the modern age of uber-technical racing, that's even possible any longer is a good question. If it's "just" a money game, what's the point if you're not spending enough? Toodling around for vanity's sake? I'm not sure I have a clue how to fix it, and you're right...in some respects Bernie's improved the show. And, for a guy who's a billionaire, I'm sure he feels he's provided a product that people like. And, don't get me wrong, either, I'm not necessarily asking to go back to the grit-under-the-fingernails days of yore. BUT, I think back to the period when drivers like Prost, Senna, Mansell and a rookie from Germany were vying for greatness. McLaren and Ferrari will undoubtedly always be arch-enemies for a number of reasons, and there is drama in that, too. But, without excitement on track, it became a yawn. Even when MS absolutely dominated at the Scuderia, I'm not sure it was "exciting". The results were foregone conclusions, often. I like the results, but we usually predicted them. The best teams don't always win a given race, but consistency pays off. So, in that respect I admire the technical brilliance and ingenuity, the commitment by drivers and teams alike and the absolute talent involved (but, we also know well-deserving drivers haven't made it to the show for lack of funding). I can be hopeful that "tweaking" the formula can get me back. There was a time when I would rise on Sunday's at some ungodly hour, put the tele on and ENJOY. Now, I sleep in and don't even bother to put the DVR on. Maybe, just maybe, I'll give it another try at some point. Hope so.
