    HELP!
I purchased a 1995 F355 that came with the dealer installed option of a spare tire with the jack/tools. The luggage compartment has brackets installed on both the left and right sides. The spare lays flat on the bottom which prevents me from properly strapping the tool kit in place. I have no idea what the brackets are for? Can anyone please advise? There is also a smaller bracket w/ a female button connector inside the luggage compartment on the right side. I have looked at other 355's without the spare tire option and none of them had these brackets inside the luggage compartment.

Sorry I have never heard of this option! What size tire and what type of rim is it? Is it supposed to work on the front and rear?

It's an OEM dealer installed option Ferrari alloy wheel-Minispare w/ Ferrari jack/accessories. Application is for either front or rear. I even have the receipt from the original owner who purchased it from the Ferrari dealer. It is a very, very rare option. In fact my car is the only one I have ever seen or heard of having one. I purchased my 355 last November from Marshall Goldman Motor Sales in Cleveland and he even told me that it was the first time he saw a 355 w/ OEM Ferrari minispare and jack. I still need help with what the brackets are for inside the sides of the luggage compartment.

    Thanks Terry
Is there any more info associated with the diagram provided, such as a legend identifying all numbered items? Is that diagram specific to the 355? I am not sure if the hood would be able to close if the spare tire is secured in an upright position as shown.

This is looks like the 355 parts diagram on the Ricambi site which will also have the legend

I can't find a photo of it mounted but seriously does it sound likely that its set-up so the hood won't close with it in place ?

Robbie is correct. There are actually four brackets, two of which attach to the car's frame, and two of which are attached to the wheel with straps and have pins that slot into the frame brackets. The 575M spare wheel comes with a separate trunk bottom panel so the tire can sit upright, but I do not see anything like that for the 355. On the 355, it looks like the wheel tilts towards the rear of the trunk to clear the compartment lid.

A bigger problem might be what you do with one of those rear wheels if you ever put the spare on. ;)

Tim- Affirmative. I am not even sure the wheel will go through the door or fit in the passenger seat. Would need to carry a large garbage bag to cover it, regardless. We were speculating on that the other day and what made the most sense was hiding the full size wheel and coming back to retrieve it with a more suitable vehicle.

Thanks for all the help guys, but can we answer the initial question? Anyone have a photo of how this spare is to be properly secured inside the luggage compartment? The photo provided by PAP 348 shows exactly what I have. One bracket w/ leather belt/straps mounted to each side of the luggage compartment left and right side in my car. Problem is that I have no idea as to how you secure it? position of spare wheel inside luggage compartment?

from the diagram, it looks like only one bracket is used on one side. Is this right?

my car has the factory option for a spare plus a carpeted cover to put over it. it has a wheel lug bolt and washer that goes through the center of the wheel and screws into the floor to hold it down. sorry, that probably doesn't help you though...
