Smooth spoilers were for GTB's,textured=GTS's

 

I forgot about that

 

is there a good reason for this?

 

My guess is that it was done to match the texture of the targa top.

That is correct but I would not guarantee the factory installed the correct one in every case.

The one I have among three GTBs is smooth also...well, some hairline cracking for patina...

hmmmm, I have an 83 QV GTS with a smooth texture. I wonder if someone changed it. Never knew about the smooth=GTB, textured=GTS. I learn something all the time here.

 

IIRC, they were all smooth at first, i.e. 1983 but concours judges can probably confirm or refute.

Most of the 328's in the UK have them painted - very few are black. 308s are mostly black I think.

My Euro (French) 85 GTS QV was smooth. VIN is 55651. Sold it in 1997.
