Is anybody interested in doing this? I've been to a couple events when I lived in Palm Beach. They are bloody amazing! I'm polling to see if there are a few of us out there unafraid of putting 3K miles on our babies for an unbeatable/memorable experience.

Check out the link. I'm going and think it would be super amazing to have a group of us attend. You don't have to enter your car to experience some of the most majestic moments in a Ferrari enthusiast's life.

I'm not afraid of the miles, am afraid of the car! :D

Seriously, is more an issue of time than an issue of not wanting to drive. Flying is much more convenient.

Florida is just barely the distance where commercial on schedule is faster than me flying. That said trip would be fun. I have done FCA Nationals and Monterey, but never Cavallino.

    Young Ferrari Dreamers--

The Cavallino Classic is close to a kindergarten event compared to the Concorso Italiano during the Pebble Beach weekend. Those of you who drool and slobber over anything Italian should be grown-ups and step up to Monterey.

Sure, the week will cost you much more on the west coast, but you can pretend you can afford it just like you pretend you have a Ferrari.

LOL David, I don't know what your kick is lately against the "young" guys, but I have been sent a few emails and PM's from you berating young "enthusiasts". :) Remember, we were young once too and somebody has to carry on the tradition and keep buying our cars. David, I didn't know you liked CI or Pebble Beach, you have to actually drive on the grass! :D;):D FYI, everyone on this thread except Kevin is a Ferrari owner, I know them personally.

Don't forget another Florida event in early March, the Amelia Island Concours. Lot smaller than Pebble, but with an amazing mix of cars and race cars. Went last year, and would rank it right there with my Monterey weekend experience.

I went to Cavallino a few years ago, in fact that is where I test drove my 355 GTS. We negotiated during the day and closed the deal at Rachel's Steakhouse that night. (http://www.rachels.com/index-one.html) :)

It is a fun event and watching the track day at Moroso was like listening to beautiful music. Wish I had a car to join them.

I grew up in S. Florida and my family is all in W. Palm. these days. I could be convinced to make the trip, especially if Rob is flying! My brother has his Maserati down there that we could steal so we can still drive Italian once we arrive.

I'm in no matter the circumstances...I may have an open seat in the spider? Girlfriend can fly out(IF she's still around)...she's not exactly roadtrip material. But then again, flying with some of the fellas wouldn't be so bad either...

I know a very well respected restorer and FCA judge. While talking to him at a show 2 years ago he said if you want to see the best Ferrari show then go to the Cavallino. I decided at that point to take one of my cars there but alas the desire was in place but the money was not. Perhaps it will be different this year. But, Yes I would love to do the Cavallino.

I think Cavallino might have more quality vintage and racing Ferraris than any other show in the world. Pebble Beach has fewer quality cars, but maybe a couple that are over the top you see once a decade. CI certainly has the numbers, but not on the vintage quality which mostly go to Quail, which is a great quality show, but still not as many as Cavallino.

I'm getting more and more interested although it is in the middle of Duck season! :(

I would want to fly because the more hours business related that offset my personal trips the better! ;)

For that long of trip I would only want to take 2 passengers, I think Rob and Jim have first rights because I still haven't figured out what Tony said drunk! ;)

I would also look into sponsor Intercity about taking a truck load of cars there and back. I bet costs would be $1-2k round trip a car.

Can you fly over water or would you have to go 'around'? :) I have a place we can stop and spend the night if we want!

Rob I'm still in doubt of myself... Usually I figure things out, but I'll be damned if I'm not still stumped over that one. It was a real doozie.

Rodney and I did Cavallino several times while my mom lived in Boca.

We always had a great time, usually met up with another Ferrari group and did lunch up the street from the hotel. The cars were always great. We also joined a group afterwards for drinks and Rodney still gets a card from that restaurant every year for a free drink on his birthday. :D

I remember driving there in the old 365 and having a valet park it. Nerve-wracking to me, not to Rodney - they were valet parking newer cars that were a lot more expensive than the old F-car!

We only did Moroso one year - it was kind of far and we only knew a couple of people, so it got boring quickly. We were not driving on the track.

However, my mom now lives here in Plano, so the "Hotel Irene" (where we stayed for free!) is now closed.

We can legally go over water, but really isn't worth it. Most likely we'll want to stop anyway for a break. Going out we should be much faster because of jet stream, but fight it on way back.

My "overnight" place is ~750 miles/12 hrs from Dallas by land, probably shorter by air. Coming home would be a short 1st day flying, longer 2nd day. You could do your pilot checking stuff into ECP or whatever airport is close by.
