Does the car have EDC (electronic damping control), with red actuators on the tops of the shocks? If so, the shock are made by Bilstein.

I think rebuilding is the only option, when you look at the price of a pair of new ones....£1200.
I was quoted £80 each to rebuild mine.

+1. If they are Bilstein, I would recommend having the oem manufacturer rebuild them...only $100 each from Bilstein USA. http://www.bilsteinus.com/services.php

I think your are on the right track. I need to look at mine and am on trip right now. I will confirm this. The shocks for the mondial T are not listed in the bilstein site but this is not unusual. Thanks to all for the help. I will get back when I have info.

Thanks for the info. I think you are right. Do you by chance have a Bilstein part number? These are not listed in the Bilstein site. They don't even list Ferraris and when I went to all of their dealers listed in my area, ALL of them said they did not handle Bilstein Shocks. Man, if I had a marketing person like that I would change some things.

    Thanks again. Randall

They are not going to be available from bilstein, as they are probably a propriety part that was specifically made for Ferrari and will only be available from Ferrari. I would suggest having them rebuilt. Does the car have the EDC system?

The shocks fitted to Mondial T's were:

    Bilstein: Model # Front 8A5-7006

    Rear 8A5-7007.

    Hope this helps,

    Cheers,
    Pete

Wow. Thanks much. I called Bilstein US and asked about these shocks and of course they are not listed and they know nothing about them. The person on the line did however indicate that the part number must be BA5-7006 rather than 8A5-7006. Can you comment? Where did you get these numbers? Directly off the shock? I guess that like they are exclusive to Ferrari and not sold to anyone else. How then do companies like T Rutlands get their hands on them?

Thanks again you have certainly put me on the right track.

    Dear Randall,

You'll find you have three options:
    1. New from an Authorized dealer or Ferrari parts specialist
    2. Used from specialty parts recyclers
    3. Rebuild (my recommendation of course)

For rebuilding, yes we do it, but you're also likely to find a place somewhere on the Continent thereby saving some shipping costs. This Bilstein application is proprietary to Ferrari. You do have the adjustable system.

Please email if you're interested in our services: [email protected]

    Best,
    Rob

I have an old Koni catalog (1986) that has the Koni part numbers for a 1981-85 Mondial 8, 2+2, Quattrovalvole, or Spider, in case anyone needs that info. Nothing as recent as 1990, sorry.

I would think you should start with Bilstein (the manufacturer) which is located in Germany! ;)

Here is their contact page: http://www.bilstein.de/en/about-bilstein/contact.html

I have scoured their European web site looking for the same service that is offered in the US to no avail. I have sent an email but so far no response. I will use delta vee if there is no further info from our friends at Bilstein. Thanks

I used Delta Vee for my Mondial T shocks several years ago. I was very happy with the results. One advantage of Delta Vee rather than the factory rebuild is that they were able to provide stiffer valving which I wanted. In other words, you get better customization to fit your preferences. Except for the one case where I wasn't careful enough in re-installling and broke the schraeder valve, everything was great. Check on their turnaround time first, if you are in a hurry.

I have now found and brought my shocks to a Bilstein rebuilder close to me in Switzerland. He has an impressive shop. I will get back into this forum with his coordinates later. The price is typically Swiss, i.e. higher than the US, he wanted CHF (Swiss Francs) 250 each to rebuild). At the present exchange rate it is only attractive if you are in Europe.

After looking at the cost of shipping to the US as well as the delay AND after talking to the guy, I am convinced I am in good hands.

Thanks very much for the excellent input AND the correction on the manufacturer of my shocks.

No problem on tech inspection. Shocks were perfectly matched on measurement. Good shock rebuild source.

Many thanks for the help on my shock questions. All is in order and I am off for a weekend in the car after Swiss technical inspection passed. I couldn't have done it without you guys. Thanks much.
