Bob Mines a 1971 euro spec so lights are the same ....

Speaking of my car last time i spoke i got the rad re cored and that was the last peice of the cooling puzzle so alot of shows and miles since . in fact since mid may i have racked up almost 3000kms!!!!!!!!! and still going very reliable as it should be since the only 2 things left to do on this car are the tranny and the interior. Both i think I will tackle in the winter

    Need some help.
I rebuilt I my clutch slave. I carefully tucked the rubber grommet(?) into the cylinder after lubing litely with brake fluid as per instructions.
When I manually push it in, it does not spring back. I have to bang it on the bench. The new rubber is thicker than what I took out.
Will it eventually be able to spring? Can I dropped a little wd-40 on it? Or once it is installed and filled it will work?

This issue has come up a couple of times with people over on VLG. I think Fred has some direct experiece with the issue. I beleive he ended up just sending the entire thing to Karp. As I remember (????) there is an issue with some kits on the market that are not quite the correct size. I don't know if that's what's going on with yours Peter but that's at least a one clue to track down.

Ive done plenty of rebuilds with kits on cars and I've never run into this.

Not much goes all that smoothly on these cars.

Catalogs??? Everybody has the stinkin' catalogs1

I was going to suggest Eurospares but they don't have a Jarama listed ;>(

    http://www.eurospares.co.uk/partsListing.asp?M=2&Mo=653&A=1&B=37817&S=&ID4=1543058

so here's Lambostuff for the Jarama.

They do have different part numbers ...

Call Jacques and ask him. He makes these and I imagine he's been asked.

Have not gotten around to the catalogs yet.
In the meantime. I'm kind of tied up this weekend and have not been able to look further but I'm leaking brake fluid. If I remove the clearish plastic cap, what will I find in there? That is where the fluid seems to be coming from. After all the worked I did to the brake, this happens. But I did get some pedal, firm but could be firmer. Plus if i hold down hard for 2 seconds, it does go to the floor.
godamn chasing one thing after another! Love it!

Bob, they only have different part numbers, IF you have a car with an auto trans, OR you have the USA header that is wrapped for emission.
Other than that the part numbers are the same.

The Eurospares catalog shows all the various headers for the Espada.
They don't list the Jarama at all.
Lambostuff shows the Jarama headers but just one kind.
Nothing matches so I dunno. It's not encouraging.

Maybe it's just an issue with their catalogs???

Well, that's just it, the header is sloppily wrapped. Looks like done in haste but original. I can tell there, near the end of one header, is a hole. But it looks to have developed because of that wrap. Figures.
So Chad, mine seems to be an American car because it is wrapped. Are you saying you believe a 5spd Espada should be the same as a 5spd Jarama regardless if wrapped?

How I sepnt my summer vacation.

Went to an all marks car show today out in the country today about an hour north of my house and as a result had to leave early to make it home in time to BBQ. My friend who arrived after me and also left after me called me on my way home to tell me I had won a mega trophy for best import. He accepted on my behalf and he said it was so large he could barely get it in his 33 chevy!! 5 mins later he called me again to tell me I had just taken people choice for the show and this next trophy would most definately have to hang out his window on the way home as it is over 4 ft tall . So thats three awards in three weeks . Last one was best original car!

what fun ............( between you and I get more of a thrill when someone wants to talk about the sound of the engine and then says I remember seeing this when i was a boy in italy)

This is very random but if I'm connecting the dots correctly here (the 'Lira Pit' plate makes it a bit easier) I just happened to be standing behind your car when you started it up and pulled out of the show yesterday. Those trophies you won are richly deserved, your Espada is absolutely gorgeous! Sounded amazing, wish I hadn't arrived so late as I wish I could have taken a closer look at the car.

    Hi guys
Having a slight problem with water ingress at top of door seals at 'A" pillar. I had new door seals put on when the car was rebuilt and they leaked badly. they had been cut at each corner to be fitted so I replaced these with uncut ones. I still have a slight issue there. I know original ones with moulded corners are not available. I don't know if the diameter of the ones I have fitted is wrong or some other profile is needed? I have spoken to other owners who have a similar issue and I know it can happen on Jaramas. Before I go out and buy some new seals and refit I wonder if anyone has ideas, solution or suggestions
I live in Scotland where it only rains! So suggesting i stop washing my car won't help!!

    Hi Paul,

I got caught last year in a couple of torrential downpours in mine and I have a leak as well . Mine is at the spot where it begins to curve down to then meet the base of the windshield. It just drips on my left leg (we drive on the proper side of the road over here!).
I think my seals ar original.

I am of the impression that I need a bit of a different shape to the curve of the door in that spot so that the gasket makes a proper contact with the underside of the roof rail. Perhaps some kind of a slip-over shim before the gasket is slipped on?

Having new continuous seals is the way to go but if you still have leaks i can only think the door may need an adjustment at the latch to pull it in more? the other thing is that overthe years the dorrs window frame may be bent out a little allowing leaks . People disrepected these cars more when new then old ......( ie used the window frame as a handle) etc...

overtime if its sealed good you should notice the seal begin to take a flatter shape which proves your sealed when shut.

If nothing works call Gary Bobileff who has rolls of new seal ..

    heres hoping its gets sorted

    hi
thanks for the suggestions. Mine appears to leak at the same point at the curve point. Easy to get seals but is the thickness etc. ie Whether putting thicker seals would work. Or perhaps putting a second seal on door frame may work.
i suspect it is simply the frame being out of alighnement or twisted but not sure. The doors were adjusted b a garage a couple of years ago and suspect they contributed to the problem
Anyone tried a seal on door frame with other seal?

I don't think mine has had a door ever touched so it might just be the age of the seal along with the shape of the opening versus the door. So maybe a new seal will do the trick.
There should be some way (sliding a piece of paper or something) to identify the non contact point and then after the new seal is in place you can verify it is then making proper contact.

I need to do mine as well Paul but I now fastidiously avoid potential bad weather. Besides this problem which is merely annoying and only occurs during a monsoon the car fogs up pretty badly and that's a bigger issue.

Good luck with that. Keep us posted.

I have to replace a couple of pipes for my air con. The air con fitters say they dont recognise the fittings and went to local hydraulic company who dont do air con!!
Anyone know what fittings they are? BNF? the pitch thread flare etc?
Anyone know suppliers in the UK for the end pieces?
I asked about just taking the old ones off and fitting to a new pipe but this was thought to be too risky although my final option
