Hey everyone. I'm new on the board, I've had a 2008 430 for about 4 months now.

It was a press car for north America. Which means it was prepped for speed and that little extra punch. So I've read on the net.. ( may or not be prepped differently). It's red, with ALL black leather. No tan. Which to my beleiving is hard to find. It's also missing the designer pins on the rear. Infring of the wheel wells.

    Ok. the issue.

Leaving a stop light there is a small rattle, like metal on metal. Around 2000 rpm, Ferrari replaced the whole exhaust system and open up the valves. It's not driving me up the wall. But is there a quick fix?

    Thanks

do you have a Challenge Grill?.......It may just be that the metal mesh is loose (maybe a lose or missing screw)......This happens to mine from time to time....Easy fix.

I'm still chasing mine. I noticed the heat shield over the left axle broke in two places. It's fixed now but still have a rattle.

check the metal grill in the diffuser, I have seen many that rattle. If it is remove it run a bead of silicon around the edge and reinstall.

Yup. Required putting the car up on a lift to remove the whole rear diffuser because there is no other way to get at the mounting screws for the small grille unless the whole diffuser is off of the car. We then glued a piece of black waterproof foam around the entire perimeter of the grille (the side facing the diffuser), and reinstalled. Voila -- no more rattle!

On Top Gear, when Jeremy Clarkson was racing a new Scaglietti 612 across France, he encountered a terrible rattle, quite evident to the microphones in the cabin. At one point he thought it was from the wipers but duct taping them down didn't help. Along the way, the mechanics were able to fix it but nothing was explained. Give Jeremy a shout and ask what that was all about.

    Hey guys,

Question on this one, I've been chasing a rattle since I got my 430 about a year ago and have failed to find it, maybe until now :) my rattle is a bit of a buzz at around 2000-3000 rpm, does this sound about right for the diffuser grill rattle that you guys have experienced?

I took a look at the diffuser earlier and if I tap it at the bottom it rattles, it's definitely not tight so I might try a temp fix with some foam to see if it is that before removing the diffuser.

Does any of the undertray need to come off when removing the diffuser or does it come off as one piece?

Thanks guys, feeling hopeful about this one :)

    John.

To find rattles on any vehicle I take a rubber mallet and hit something solid like the frame. It will ususally bring the rattle out and you can find it by repeatedly hitting something solid and following the rattle. This works best if you have car on a lift, good luck.

Exhaust tips and brackets have been part of recalls and updates for years now. See your dealer and check your service histories for recalls.

To add the FNA caveat onto this... Just remembered.

Even though your car might be listed for the recall, unless your brackets and tips are visibly cracked, they will not replace them. Some claims actually required a sound file before being approved.
