I did not look here till you pointed me here Jim...

    Here you go...

Well I just looked at your links...no I dont think it is funny..thats WHY I removed my LOL, but the better question is HOW would you know that..do you have some acess to things other board people dont?

And OF COURSE I as the "Local" Lambo champion would post anything that is negative about the the other brand...seriously you dont think so..? Tjhat is called on-going rivelry...and lucky NO One has been injured, in either a Lambo fire or a Ferrari fire.

I guess I could start building my own car...but I would probably get told..

"What do you know...you are a Fire Alarm Compoany owner, stick to building your Fire Alarms"

    SEE, now that's FUNNY IMO

Anyone know why the 458 Italia catches fire by itself? Five cars have burned in three months, six more have been involved in crashes. Rich people wanting to show themselves but lack driving skills maby..

You mean this isn't trash talk? These are your words, Roy:

"Now, when can I pick one up at a "fire" sale LOL LOL

You just KNEW, me, the Lambo guy was going to jump all over this.."

I don't own a "4548" (sic). I own a cash deposit on an F458 that my dealer holds for me.

You must not have been reading this forum recently because there were 5 different threads about the fire issue and 4 of them have been removed. There is still an ongoing thread dedicated to the fire issue and what the factory is doing/not doing about it, so another thread really wasn't necessary to post. You might consider deleting it.

Is it possible to delete after someone else have posted? Saw the other threads now. If not possible to delete just let the thread die out.

Sorry to hear another one fell for the "you will be lucky" to get this car..hurry buy now before they are all gone..and thank me (the Dealer) that I you payed full MSRP for it..or worst yet OVER MSRP.

But it is great that this happens, just drives the price of thos 360, 430 and Scuds right down to where they sell on the used car market now, as with all vehicles of this nature.

Sorry I dont find it in myself to return name calling to you, but I am sure it makes you feel better..it used to work for me as well...when I was in the 4th grade!! LOL

Man has this thread gone evil.

Geez everyone... it's just a freaking car. It may have a problem or we may be overexaggerating. But, let's not make it personal, ok?

Jim, I know full well that you've never engaged in such activity but, if "Ferrari Guys" didn't fall over themselves in a rush to post similar things in the Lambo section every time there is a burning Lambo picture posted on Wrecked Exotics, then "Lambo Guys" wouldn't feel the need to give some back when F-cars go up in flames.

    Just sayin'.

The LP640 fuel tank recall is proactive, not reactive. No actual fires have been attributed to the recall issue, NOT ONE. Go read some other articles on the subject and you'll notice that Speedlux is the only source making the claim that this issue has actually caused fires. Everyone else writes that fires are "a possibility".

I said this last time this subject was brought up and I'll ask it again: Can anyone show me a photo of a burning or burnt Murcielago, with no other accident damage, that is an LP640 made between '07 and '08? I mean, we all know that exotics on fire are popular photos to take and post on Wrecked Exotics and other sites, so why is there a distinct, and total, lack of burning/burnt LP640 photos?

You are 110% correct..the recall was due to the "possability" of a fire, not one incident has been recorded or attributed to a "Gas Tank" issue..

But the point is it does happen to all brands at one point or another for one reason or another..it just so happens this month it is the Ferrari, next month it could be Chevy...

It just happens to be that 458s are trickling out onto the roads, and everywhere they go, every camera in visual range is pointed at them.

I do think however that there is a specific issue with the 458. These fires are happening frequently with so few cars on the road. Even the highly flammable Gallardo didn't/doesn't burst into flames as often and there are thousands more of them being driven around.

Absolutely, but I'm glad that Ferrari is actually doing something to hopefully prevent it.

I got this from another forum, it is unofficial yet but according to a member of the forum specifically superitalia, it stated the following:

"The incidents is due to basic concept of fuel vapor. Whenever there is gas in the tank, the vapors from the fuel causes pressure in the tank. Those vapors then is to be released into the carbon canister where they are broken down so they do not pollute the air.

On that canister there is a vent hose that runs to the passenger side rear front half wheel well. The old design on the F430 had the vent hose basically just being blocked/diverted so the vapors are guided out of the wheel well.

With the design on F458, there was a chance that vapors could escape into the engine compartment. The vehicle has very little engine room and gets extremely hot, therefore sometimes causing the unthinkable.....

The new design since all of the 458 fires, places the hose directly into a housing that is vented into the wheel well. The hose is clamped onto the housing and there is no way that vapor can get into the engine compartment.

    Info from ferrari"
