Hello Paul! Yes that hour went by fast. Will post more photos but I have to get them from the photographer, have just a few from my phone. Am making good progress on the book but if you are in a Scottish hurry maybe you want to help me with interview transcripts (just kidding: whether it is more or less enjoyable than eating haggis or watching paint dry is open for debate). I now have all the material I wanted bar the last few interviews of lockjawed Frenchmen so this fall is the final stretch: it is far more complex than the Breadvan book however. You should come to the International meeting in Bastad in 10 days: you can take ferries from your foggy island directly to Sweden you know!? best regards, Marc
That's a lot of Khamsins all in one spot! I'm not sure there are than many left in the USA. I think they've all left for Europe ... Bob S.
The most we ever had at Pocono was 4 in the early 90's. Of course there was never a concerted effort to bring a group of them together. Joe
Here are a couple more with my clumsy number plate masking. I don't want to betray the privacy request of those who kindly attended. Joe I am sure that for your fine event you could gather at least 10 in 2012: I can help you put together a list of the possible cars in the northeast, would be glad to help you back after you gave me your list years ago. Bob there are at least 50 in the US but not that many of this quality. Will post more photos including details later. best regards, Marc Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
That would be quite something. I never saw that many at Monterey. Go for it! I just hope it's not a lot of examples like we saw on Ebay a couple of weeks ago. That car was so sad looking. Wow I though it might be as low as 10-20 by now. Bob S.
Graeme. Here you are the trunk luggage straps you asked to see: they are purely functional but again something I had never seen. Will look at your Oz car list now: thanks again Photo of BBS wheel: about half a dozen khamsins received these as aftermarket equipment, mostly in Germany. One owner had gotten some made to order, it allowed for interesting tire choices. Last but not least a view of the pino verde car, I am very partial to that one! best regards, Marc Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Hi Marc The wheels are interesting as given the 130mm PCD of the khamsin its hard to see from the picture how the nuts are covered. The Luggage strap looks interesting I would have thought that it should have been more substancial. I see thet car also has the "blind Cover as well" Regards Graeme
This is a very good car, one of the best in the US, it was sold by Ivan a few years ago, those who are looking should realize they no longer have the luxury of choice within the US, they should pounce on this one before it, too, is vacuumed across the water to the old world. When I say there are at least 50 cars left in the US I should add that a strong percentage of those are automatics: there is less than one 5 speed car per US state left. Graeme: thanks for the great list on Oz cars, will get back to you. Regarding the strap the cars has two even if the photo shows just one, yes they are thin, I suppose in period it was assumed Khamsin man and his leggy passenger would be traveling with light luggage! It has the blind cover, something featured on some late cars, a modification which must have been born from customer pressure to hide the trunk contents, just like the small number of cars mostly in Germany which somehow ended up without the rear glass panel. Re the BBS wheel don't know, perhaps somebody else does. best regards, Marc
Hi mark This link is to a company that make Luggage for 190 300 series Mercedies this is what I have in mind http://www.ranchomerced.com/Luggage.html Regards Graeme
Very nice! Will ask the owner of the Khamsin who has a luggage set for photos and will post when I get them. MS
Marc i recall the original brochure for the Khamsin about 1977 had pics of the luggage in it. I got a brochure at the glasgow motor show but gave it to my now brother in law's brother as he liked the car so much could be mistaken as is 30+ years since I saw it! Paul
Hello Paul: You are referring to the very photo I use as home page wall paper in my dormant website: http://www.maseratikhamsinregistry.com/ That luggage I believe is not the actual fitted luggage, let's wait till this Swiss gentleman sends me his photos to see what they look like. best regards, Marc
This reminds me very much of the photos for the Espada brochure with the luggage. http://cgi.ebay.com/1973-Lamborghini-Espada-400-GT-Brochure-Nr-MINT-/140443295210 Enlarge the second photo. I've never heard of any of this actually existing but it would look very cool. Bob S.
hi Marc the very pic!! I have that espda brochure and I dont think i have ever seen the luggage, not sure it was an option Would be good to see the pics Paul xx
PS I had my car up at knockhill racing circuit tonight. caused quite a stir. Got asked repeatedly if was taking the car out! AS it was an 'open ' night I declinewd but people loved the noise as i was driving up to the circuit and heard me miles away! Am very keen to do a sound video of the car at full acceleration. My mate was following me from the circuit in his Ultima and was impressed at how hard he had to go to keep up and loved the 4 spraks and flames cming out of the tail pipes on the overrun! wish he had filmed it!! Paul
Well between Marc and myself I'm not sure which one of us should feel insulted. ;>)) You did say "espad" brochure right? But Paul you are not alone today as Walter Baumer just called me Joe in another thread ... So I guess it's pointless to sign my posts from here on out. ;>)) Doesn't matter.
Lol Sorry, my typing late at night can be worse than during the day! I do have an Espada and a Khamsin so I do have a foot in both camps! ( well lots really since I have a countach QV and a few X1/9's and can claim to be a Gandini fan) Not sure how i insulted Marc but no doub he will tell me off if I have! lol Paul xx
Gentlemen, I am looking for information on AM120160. I'd like to know in which colour scheme it left the factory and who owned it since birth. How could I proceed in order to find out? Regards, Otto
Hello Otto and welcome. 160 was sold new in France in 1975 via Thepenier, bleu sera white to Picot SA the company of a Mr Picot. Many years later it was acquired by the current swiss owner at a Brooks/Bonhams auction in Geneva. While offered in an auction earlier this year it is no longer in the posession of the auctioneer, the owner of the car has taken it back and told me days ago that he wants to keep it. best regards, Marc
Thank you for the information, Marc. In fact I thought it was still for sale. I keep searching then. Does anybody here happen to know of a good Euro-Spec Khamsin whose owner might actually consider handing it over? Hard to imagine for you guys probably but could happen, couldn't it. Just missed an opportunity in France, where a gunmetal-grey resprayed K (VIN not known) was just sold when i called this afternoon. Best regards, Otto
Hi All Does any one know of any Khamsin Radiator Hoses available. I have a couple of cars here that need them. If otheres are interested I would be interested in getting a quote to have some silicone hoses made, in black. Also does any one know where I can get the original type fuel hose 8mm id Cotton outer braid. The original hose was a very high quality and I would like to replace some after all I am still using 32 year old hoses and they are better than the off the shelf hose. But who knows with some ethanol going into Australian fuel. Cheers Graeme
Hi All Interesting 421 (give or take a few) Khamsins built and twice I have seen the Corvette powered Khamsin. in the pouring rain both times This time very close to my place heading south. I will get a picture one day. Regards Graeme
The gunmetal grey resprayed K in France was advertised in autoscout24 at 48k. Don't know at what price it was actually sold. It had 90something kkm on the clock and looked nice on the pictures. Sellers address was near Bordeaux. Regards, Otto
