    Hello,
I'm going to be changing out the Air Check valves. I understand that these are NLA but a replacement from NAPA or the like is possible. I've read posts expressing much difficulty removing so, I'd much rather have the parts in hand first
I did the search and found threads but no mention of a cross ref part number.
Does anyone know the NAPA number. Thanks very much.

    John.

Summit racing appears to have the correct GM part. It's interesting that they have a few different check valves. All in the $16 range IIRC, but the one that looks most like the correct GM / Ferrari part is closer to 50.

How we love them so :)

BTW: I used some liquid wrench and let it soak for a few hours before attempting to remove. Be very careful with a well placed back up wrench so as not to twist the air rail.

I just performed this on my 1984 QV. The correct part is a Borg Warner part, IIRC BWA CV8.

If they are the original check valves then expect them to be rusted on solid. I applied, 3 different penetrating oils with no success, it would not budge. Ending up cutting them off with a dremel tool cut wheel. Cut slowly making sure you don't go too far and cut into the threaded connection on the air rail. Take your time.

Make sure to have a back up wrench on the air rail connection. Good Luck.

As stated, I wouldn't try to unbolt them for fear of twisting the rail. I changed mine out via using a dremel tool. Do so very carefully because the metal is very thin. Cut a slit and slightly spread it open with a screwdriver. It will then come off easily. I bought my replacements at a Chevy dealer for cheap.

Hi John, just replaced mine on my '85 QV. They are GM valves, # : 4974265, there are some on ebay for sale as we speak, just type in the #. Also, any parts store should be able to cross reference the part #. Removing the valves was easy, some penetrating oil may make things easier. Make sure that you use one wrench on the valve and one on the rail, the rail will bend or break off if the valves don't break loose. Mine were practically reduced to nothing due to heat and age, but they came off easily. $16.25 each.

    Hi -

I've got an 85 QV. It's a concours car and I need to replace the check valves (one's bad, but I'll replace both) The images of the 49774265 part I've found on line do not match the original part in terms of looks.

    Any advise?

    Thanks,
    Mike C

Do you know the F part number? (Unfortunately, the '84-'85 US 308QV SPC isn't one of those available online). You might be stuck with just matching the finish color as best as possible and having to live with a slightly different outer shape -- I've noted that most of the US F part suppliers only offer an aftermarket substitute for 121769 (used on US TR and 3.2) and nothing at all for the earlier 100564 (used on US 308B/S and Mondial8). Also, make sure you really check with the parts supplier if it is an original part or a substitution -- noted a HUGE price difference for the later 148494 check valve from different US suppliers (so I'm guessing one is official F and one is an equivalent substitute). Eurospares shows 121769 as being replaced by 148494 (only ~500 euro each ;)) and do show 100564 as available, but the price (relative to 148494) makes me guess that it, too, is a substitution. TRutlands has the most encouraging description ("...Qv OEM...") for 121769, but the price seems too low ;):

What is your finish color -- silvery or brassy or black or ?

The part that came off has "4974265" stamped on it. It is brassy in color and main body is rounded and tapers under the large nut which connects to the metal air tube. The nut is also tapered. The end that connects to the braided hose actually also has a nut shape molded in the metal - the vale is broken aft of this molded nut - with the remains of the connector still inside the hose...

This http://www.summitracing.com/parts/MOR-97800/?rtype=10 one has the right finish and the nut is tapered, but the main body is not the correct shape and I can't see the other side...

I was quite lucky that this part broke only days after the car passed the coppa bella machina test at the fca national!!!

This is the exact part I used to replace mine. The finish is spot on but the tapered nut is different. AFAIK the OEM part is NLA. This Borg Warner chech valve, when installed, is rather impossible to notice. Only way a concours judge would notice is if they were specifically looking for it. Can't imagine point deduction for that. Might as well check to see if you are using Ferrodo brake pads as well while there at it. My car has received 2 Platinum awards with these check valves.
