    I just completed a restauration of a 1:14 312 T5 F1 of Jody Scheckter
It's a vintage model from the early 80's of the then worldchampion's car...

Many of these were wairing the wrong livery and racenumbers (f.e. pironi and arnoux)

This one had the wright ones though
    This is how it arrived:

After a torrough cleaning job of dust and nicotine.. it became as new...
Then I had to make new mirrors because one of the original was missing.
I bended the rear wheel a little bit back (it was "hanging").
Furthermore i attached a fire-extinghuiser in the roll-bar and detailed the seat with some real belts and real suede. And finally i added a helmet of Jody to it.

    and here is the result:

That was my first Ferrari model ever!
Got as a present (8 years old), and it stood in my bedroom for nearly 10 years gathering dust.
Gave it away, and a few year later, I started collecting handbuilts..

Wow, great job. I sold mine 9 months ago, along with the JPS Lotus, Tyrrell. Even had the original box.

I love these older models. I know there are newer/better detailed cars, but these are great models imo.

    Nice work.

Soon on this forum part II of Bburago restauration ; the 312 T2 presentation
This time it will need some extra TLC but... it's a challenge.
Furtermore i have to change the livery form a non-existed Reutemann #11 to a Lauda #1
But that also is a challenge..

It comes at the and of this week (i hope)
soon i make some photo's of the restauration

For your information: Reutemann was driving a 312 T2 with #12 for the second half of the 1977 season, but the first two races of 1978 (Argentina and Brasil) he had #11, so the combination Reutemann / 312 T2 / #11 did exist. Of course important details (local dealer stickering for example) can be totally wrong for 1978 on the Bburago model...

your right...BUT in 1977 ferrari drove the second version of the 312T2 (see picture)
and this model is the 1976 presentation version (march/april 1976)... reutemann wasn't in the picture yet...untill lauda nearly died on the nurburgring and reutemann "bought" a seat at ferrari for the GP of Monza and Canada.. when lauda got back in Monza... he had bought his seat and ferrari had to give him one... he drove then a 312T2 with the number #35 ... in Canada Reutemann didn't start...

So in 1976 (the season this car drove) Reutemann only drove 1 race with the number #35 and in 1977 he drove the 1977 model with the number #11

    Arjan,

of course you are right; this is the presentation version of the 312 T2 in 1976. But I am not sure that it ever raced with these funny wind deflectors in front of the front wheels...

Just to be nitpicking, I have to correct myself: Reutemann drove just one race in 1976 for Ferrari (Italian GP, #35) and the FULL 1977 season with #12. His race number in 1978 was #11.

AFAIK, the presentation version of the 312 T2 as pictured in post #7 never drove in anger.

It has arrived... and immediate i saw that the coating of the model was very thin and fragile.
I have cleaned the model very carefully, because the coating is VERY thin, even decals i had to remove i had to paint over in stead of removing with coating in all.
after that i removed the chassis and cleaned it . then i place the seatbelts in.
On the cover i placed som new mirrors and i gave the spoilers a new coating on some parts (also due to worn out coating).
Then i renumbered the car and gave it some white detailing (striping)
her are some photos of the process....
the last two pictures are from the real car (with the numbers 1 AND 2 on the enginecover)

All considered I won't detail the engine due to the fact it lies totaly under the bonnet (instead of the engine of the T5) furthermore this model is from a less quality compaired with the 312T5 i have (which had a VERY GOOD coating and was better detailed by Bburago, als the T2 is 5 years older in production-technology with Bburago)

But i am lucky to have found both models...
