355 prices going up?

Is this a sign of a little uptick in price? Here is an article on Hemmings magazine on an unsold Ferrari F355 F1 Berlinetta with a high bid of $58000 were the seller reserve price was not met It says in the article that NADA prices on this car is between $82000 - $88000 is that possible? Are we holding a future treasure in our garages? LOL

Here's an interesting data point though. I buy, refurbish, and sell motorcycles for a living. The new Kelley Blue Book just came out and several very ordinary late model (2005 or so)bikes have gone up in value. I think they actually over corrected downward in their last book, so I they're probably correcting their last correction. The uptick was around 3%, but that's in the 3 or 4 months since the last book. Time to invest in motorcycles! (not really)

I actually was thinking the same thing while browsing Ferrari's on Craigslist and eBay

seems like all the 355s on ebay are in the 60s now. there's one here in Ferrari Ads for 80k!

 

It's only a matter of time before they come back to a little more normal. The Porsche guys saw very little value decrease in the sub $40k cars. I've noticed the low ballers that email me once in a while are coming in with slightly higher numbers as well.

Ferrari's are only going to be worth the same as a 2 or 3 year old Camery or F250 for so long...

 

Ive been watching the 355 for a long time. Its a great car. I have noticed that prices stopped falling this past spring and it wouldnt surprise me that they bounce up a little and I see some evidence of that lately. But its not just the 355. Many sports cars are selling after sitting around for a couple of years. I think overall confidence is going up. We can only stay down for so long and then human nature is to go out and get what you want and this past summer its sports cars. For those poor souls who have been waiting for the 355 to drop under the 10G mark, too late you should have bought at the 50+ mark.

 

I'm inclined to think that the prices might in fact rise. We all know about the "soft spots" in 355 design... Headers, valve guides, stickyness etc. In order to get all these issues sorted out, a 355 owner is going to have to put down some serious coin. Once this has been done, it just doesn't make any sense for a 355 to sell in the 50s.

I for one, wouldn't sell mine for anything less than 65k.

 

Plenty of those kinda clowns out there for sure....

 

I might take $225,000 for mine, but only if the guy really deserved the car. Might.

For me, any reasons to sell are to "trade up" to a potentially more durable car. I don't care for the styling of the 360/430 compared to the 355, I love the way the 355 fits and drives, and I think it sounds better.

So once the stuff is sorted, the inclination to sell drops. And so the potential sale price goes up.
