I get the same problem too in my 355. I normally start filling it slowly for about 30 seconds @ half flow and then ever so slowly squeeze the handle more. If I put in too much gas a t once it will shut off. I find that 3/4 flow works best.

I had this problem once on my old 360. The attendant saw me fiddling with the gas pump and approached me and offered to fix the problem. I was puzzled as to how he could operate the pump differently, but I let him have at it. He pulled the nozzle out, waited, reinserted it, then did exactly what I was doing. Surprisingly, it never clicked off prematurely. I asked him what he did differently, and he explained that if you insert the nozzle too quickly after removing the cap, you can create a small vacuum of pressure, and once you do this it will keep clicking off. To fix this problem, simply remove the nozzle, wait for the pressure to normalize (several seconds), and retry. I never had the problem again.

After filling it up, he said he wanted to fill the car up because he had never seen one of these cars up close! This was despite the fact that he must have been at least 70 years old. :)

I saw a 355 recently in the local Ferrari dealer workshop. Serious body burn on left hand side below fuel filler cap. Apparently fuel had spilt during refill and had splashed onto a very HOT brake rotor. Fuel ignited and serious but not fatal body burn occurred. Be careful!!!!

Are you guys saying you lock the gas handle "ON" and walk away [to touch up your eye shaddow or talk on your cell phone]?

    If so .............................

I do not have the problem as I control the flow and trickle it into the tank. Too easy and NO FIRES that way.

I never walk away from ANY refueling operation on ANY vehicle. PERIOD.
