Just a fun story to share... I got a call from a co-worker the other day asking if I could surprise his 13 year old son, Andy, with a ride in my Ferrari. Naturally, I said yes without hesitation. Since he lives near one of my favorite strips of asphalt, we took the F355 for some exercise on some truly epic twisties. He asked a lot of good questions and never went for the passenger "brake pedal" or the "oh jesus" handle. Andy did mention his favorite Ferrari right now is the California ... but I let him ride the rest of the way home anyway. I'm not sure who had more fun - me or Andy. Here's a pic of Andy with his parents after the ride. Looks pretty happy, eh?! I also shot about 8 minutes of HD video that I am uploading. Great video but there is a ton of windnoise...I'll post a link later. Image Unavailable, Please Login
That is a very nice gesture Rick, and sharing the Ferrari passion with supporters is what it is all about, IMO.
damn that family likes sandals! i used to love getting rides in fast cars as a kid. One time my pops took me at 130 mph in the Alameda tunnel in a 79 911sc when I was 4 years old. Hooked for life, and I blame my addiction solely on that ride. Evry kid should experience it.
Uploaded the video from our run...good stuff (sorry about all the wind noise tho) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ke8fwG3FMzw Be sure to watch in 720p HD
...and Volvos. Good for you. I made several smaller gestures this weekend at an indoor car show by allowing some kids to sit in mine, I hope it has a long lasting impression on them. Rob
Very nice Rick. That'll leave a lasting smile on his face. Brings back memories of earlier years when F-cars were out of my reach and only a dream. People like you kept that passion and ambition alive. Ed
Very cool Rick. This is what the brotherhood is all about - sharing our love of the car and infecting the next generation of owners! I guess your brakes work then, eh? I took my godson up to supercar sunday and he was in heaven. He's not too keen on the drive through the canyons, so I passed this weekend. Oh well, can't hope for everything at once...
