Interested in this car mainly cause of its color combo and colored dash and wheel.

    But....

The 15,000 major has not been done yet, and its got 17,000 on it, so would that make it something I should not touch with a ten foot pole or is it doable as along as I get the service done right away?

Also, if anyone knows off the top of their head what an average 355 major would cost nowadays?

    No worries. Looks great! :D:D

At least it has been regulary driven. :D:D

Just negotiate the price down a little because it will need a $5K+ major. ;);)

Try $10k minimum. Most F355s have a lot of "needs" at this point in their life...especially cars that have deferred maintenance. I am not saying this is a bad thing, I just don't want the OP shocked with the bill.

DEFINITELY get an inspection prior to purchase, so you are clear of what the possibilities might be for service costs. Don't take a "buyers inspection" as the end all, as many things may not be found until the car is apart...there are always surprises. ;)

    Cheers Hugh. :D:D

I DIDNT want the OP to sh*t himself. So I posted a $5K+ to ease him into it.:eek:

So has this car not had any work done or is that an excuse to hide the service history?

Notes on the history might point to an unresolved issue, easier to say there are no records than admit there is a issue.

A very close inspection and good PPI preformed by a 355 expert would be in order before I would go near this car.

    Just my opnion of course.

here is the carfax, it shows all the dealers who have serviced it. Looks like at one point it was bought or sold by a Toyota dealer :')

first thing that hit me in the face was all the battery replacements??? Looks like the car has been to the dealer plenty. The fact that these records seem to have vanished would concern me. If that can be clarified or the records produced it would be worth a PPI

2 battery replacements in a 14 year old car and you are shocked?! Heh, store the car long enough without a proper minder and you'll burn through a lot more than that! You are not likely to get the seller to discount much. MG just doesn't do that. My guess is that if it doesn't sell near where they want it, the car will reapper somewhere else for sale. Decent car, I'd say do the PPI and go for it if u like it. Tan interior on yellow does not do it for me and the steering wheel? A crime I tell ya!

No but 2 in 9 months with plenty of mention of service issues that seemed electrical did. Just stuck at at me as i glanced at it.. could be something could be nothing but there do seem to be plenty of service records. why they are "missing" is the 60k question

Could very well be a great car. Just get the PPI and budget for the major. The good news is there are VERY few yellow/tan combo's out there.

Seems very pricey in relation to current market sales and lack of a recent major. Also keep in mind that while you like that color combo(as well as myself), it isn't worth any sort of premium over a red one.

Yikes-I just saw that steering wheel and dash-that is going to be a hard sale for sure-they are out of their mind on that price.

The color combo is great, but the top of the dash in alot of vehicles are in black or darker colors because lite colors in the sun can cause very bad reflections. It would be a concern for me. I left a car show this summer with a tan # tag on the dash and as soon as the sun hit it the reflection was realy bad.

Are these the 2 batteries in 9 months that you were referring to?
    02/20/2008 - Battery serviced
    11/06/2008 - Anti-theft/keyless remote battery replaced

The 11/06/2008 battery seems like it was a small watch battery for the remote.

The yellow on tan is sure unique!

this is what i was thinnking, or haveing been trhough it with my old spider, the anti theft system is very hungry and killed the battery regularly every 7-10 days. At some point, you can no longer recharge it since one of the cells croaks. there are way bigger concerns on a 355 than batteries. do the ppi and see if its ur next ride!
