Just thought I would pop in and say hello. I am a new member from the Mid-Atlantic Maryland area. Harford County to be specific, which is about 30-minutes NE of Baltimore.

I had the pleasure of tagging along with the Mason Dixon Rally this past weekend and I was told this was the spot to join to stay in the loop for such events.

All in all I am a huge car enthusiast with a broad taste and appreciation for various cars. If I don't like something I keep it to myself or try to be courteous with my differing opinion. My best quess is that you will often see me in the Mid-Atlantic Regional section more than any, but I may pop into some of the other broad-topic sections of this community as continue to explore.

As much as I would love to be a future Ferrari owner, I just don't ever see it happening for me. My Infiniti G35 coupe is the best and favorite car I've owned so far.

    Welcome to the board.

The Infiniti is a VERY nice car; there are many great folks here without Ferraris so don't for a sec feel it matters!

    Wlcome!

The older cars are more attainable than one might imagine. Do some researching and start saving and you can easily have a V8 car in a few years. Keep a positive outlook and it will happen.

For the record it took me 13 years but was worth every minute.

Thanks for the kind words of encouragement. While the prospect of owning a Ferrari is appealing, I'd rather go for something newer and equally as attainable from another make. The older Ferraris would require me to take on the sort of project I am just not into (i.e. taking care of an older, more exotic and rare car). I've been down that route a little bit with my 300ZX Twin Turbo, so I would guess an 80's Ferrari would be a bit more daunting.

My short term plan with the G35 is to stick it out a few more years, save some loot and evaluate what direction I want to go into more. I've done a few lapping sessions with my G35 and really want to get into it more, but the G35 is a bit piggish and without forced induction and/or drastic weight reductions is considerably slow. For now its proving to be a great learner. So if I decide to get into track sessions more, I'll go for a lighter more cost effective chassis. If I decide to stick to a street car with the occassional once twice a year track visit I may go towards a Porsche or spend more money on the G35. We'll see how this all works out.

Yes, the 04 6MT coupe was the sport model, it even came with brembo calipers and larger rotors. Mine is modded slightly with adjustable dampening struts, stiffer linear rate lowering springs, stiffer adjustable sway bars, rear adjustable camber arms, slotted rotors with Stop-Tech pads, SS brake lines, a Motordyne Engineering modular exhaust system and some big fat street tires and wheels (19x10 with 285 tires and 19x11 with 305 tires). It is not that fast, but it grips very well which is what I like.

If I build this thing for more track duty, I will have to improve the suspenion further. Do some weight reduction, chassis stiffening/roll cage and do something about adding power because the lightest I could get it is probably around 3300-lbs.
