lots of guys in the motorcycle world do plastic welding. fix it, sand it and spray the new finish on it.. should be less than $20 total

you have a pic of the damaged piece?

    Point taken.

I only paid $174 for my ashtray from Ricambi in July 2008. Boy - it's gone up around $113 in only two years. That's heaps ahead of inflation. I must admit I would also baulk at paying around $300 for that ashtray. But mine was shot and I really don't think you can repair them properly, even with plastic welding as suggested.

I'd be hanging out for a good second hand one if I were you.

By the way - I love my iPhone 3G (TM vegas1). What are your thoughts on the 32GB iPhone 4 ?

I wish Apple made 64GB iPhones. My 32GB is pretty well maxed-out already.

Awesome and shall look you up for sure and swap 348 talk, et al.

I love my iPhone (TM vegas1) as well. Why do you hate Apple - just curious.

............... and let us know when you get a good quality ashtray - good luck with it.

Just a guess, but I think the huge price hike has less to do with inflation, and more to do with the current exchange rate with the Euro. In any case... drives me nuts. My ashtray surround is broken too. ><

+1 I just went through this and bought a new one. In the scope of the Ferrari ownership this wasn't that big of an expenditure.

Ive been plastic welding motorcycle parts at home with a a soldering iron for over 20 years. Easy to do, sand, paint and reinstall. If your worried to do it yourself look up plastic welding in your phone book and tell them its for an old Alfa youre restoring or the price will be double :)

funny. I just broke the trim on my ashtray yesterday... dang. why does everyone on this forum have such a hard-on for ricambi. Ferrparts.com sell the ashtray for $185. that's $100 less than ricambi and has nothing to do with exchange rates.
