I am looking at a 86 Ferrari Testarossa silver w Black, 22K miles with all the service up to date with records.

I like the color alot, but I have friends telling me the silver is worth less then the red ones.

What do you guys think??? is that true?

I think it would be worth more cause they only made so many silver ones?

    I appreciate your responce!!

They don't call it "resale red" for nothing. It's sorta true - and I think some folks have done statistical analysis to 'prove' that Ferraris in red do tend to command a price premium (usually about $5k on 80s and 90s cars).

They say your first Ferrari ought to be red...but if you're in love with Silver, just negotiate a good price and enjoy it!

Silver is considered by many as a minus, no matter how nice the car is. I've seen only one silver TR in person and I thought it was stunning. Pictures just don't do this color justice at all on the Testarossa. I've had 2 other "non-red" colored TRs, a black metallic, and a grigio metallic....and they looked great. I currently have a red TR and I can attest to people's reaction to it versus the other more conservative colors. I'm thinking my next Ferrari will be a color other than red.....

red is always beautiful, but I prefer the non reds as they are even more rare and unique. But, buy what you like not what someone else likes. Any '86 high mirror testarossa is going to garner attention no matter the color.

I am not overly fond of the bigger red Ferraris. I do like Silver...and it really depends on what you are buying it for...if you are looking to resell it in the near future, go with what will get you more money. If you are looking to get the pure joy Ferraris bring us, get whatever color will bring you that joy.

Silver/black looks very nice on a TR IMO, as to value, well, truthfully there's a lot of factors in play there.

Condition is far more important than color, to me.

Good luck in your decision. Your money not your 'advisors'! LOL!

I actually like silver on them.

To me, the body is so flamboyant that it doesn't 'need' a loud color, so the blues, blacks, grays and silvers fit the car well.

But since it is admittedly not terribly popular, probably a good negotiating point in your favor.

Condition is far more important than color with any older 12 cylinder Ferrari. FWIW any color other than red/yellow is much less of an attention getter, which is a plus, especially on the highway if you are over the limit. :D

    What's a fair price ????

    $35K - $55K.........+/-

Can you back it up to the modem so I can hear it run ?

5k less for sure, then consider the appearance and service history, and If you like the car "BUY IT". No use looking for a red one that is rough. Go with taste, condition then budget(my order). Good luck!

    My friends have the following
    Yellow dino spyder- beautiful.
Silver 330 gt Mk1 on Borannis- stunning
    335 in yellow -lovely
    308QV gts blue Chiaro- Fantastic
    Daytona spyder Blue mondeo- breathtaking.
    I have a red glass 308 - predictable.
Buy the damn thing in the colour that you like so when you walk into the garage and you pull the cover back it, well let just say it raises your........ expectation of the drive your about to have! Forget the resale, you will, when the speedo needle swings past 100 for the first time.
    Cheers MG

I think silver looks great on a TR , actually there was a silver Tr in Nort Carolina that I was interested for a while on Ebay, I thought it was the most awesome looking car i ever saw . Between the looks and the sound of the motor on a TR, there are not many cars that are more cool .

    1st Ferrari, get red.

2nd one, get any other color (I like yellow)

IMHO, the older Ferrari's (250, 330, etc) looks better in silver.

Nopiston that is a great pic of your silver TR. That's why I am considering the silver one...still does anyone have any idea how many silver ones were produced in 1986?
The TR in general is great in any color....

every color is nice BUT...... If you want the attention of the most people and of WOMEN, AND attention in a positive way... the only way to go is RED.

What they said. If you can buy a silver one for less, and you love silver, then who really cares if you sell it for less.

I had a black metallic 328 that, to me, looked better than red. The price difference (buying or selling) was pretty trivial.

Sad truth is that exotics mostly attract boys and men :( If you want to attract women better get a Rolls or even better a Yacht

That said silver TRs are awesome
