Just wanted to share with everybody some quick pictures of this stunning black/black 458 Italia! More pics and info coming soon....now I gotta start taking this thing apart : ) Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
We are designing a full performance package for the 458 Italia. This package will include a full Fabspeed exhaust from the Headers all the way back to the tips, and EVOMSit ECU flash. We have some great things in store for this car so stay tuned and I will keep you guys updated on our progress Here are some more pictures from today....I was able to get some good baseline runs on our DynoJet and then we put the car on the lift. You can see with the car on the lift, and the rear diffuser removed it allows us to use our Romer ScanShark to 3D laser scan the stock exhaust. I can't help but notice that this car has a Kansas plate. Hopefully when you guys finish up and it comes back home I can see and hear it on the road. I can't wait for the video!
Jeremy, That's awesome. Looks so cool with diffuser off. That's some beautiful metalwork castings. The 458 has really caught my heart. Joe Mac's white one is one of the most beautiful modern cars I've ever see. Take it easy Bob BTW- When are you gonna come down for another drive? Give me a yell and I'll set up a couple hundred miles out where we did the Joe Zaff Spring Run.
I think as soon as I finish the 458 Italia we should have an event one night at Fabspeed for you guys to show the 458 and hold an open house. I will try to plan this out in the next week or so for you guys. I will be at Millville at the end of this month for the Ferrari Meet and possibly have the 458 there as well. Here is the dyno graph with the stock runs....I will have more pics and info at the end of the day. Image Unavailable, Please Login
I would love to come down for another drive!! I had an absolute blast on the last run.....Unfortunately we have been so busy here at the shop and all of my time has been consumed getting these cars done and moving on to the next project. You let me know when we can do another run and I am in for sure!
Here are some interior shots of the car.....Carbon Fiber everywhere!! Here is the engine bay with Factory airbox and throttle bodies removed. Here is the Factory Airbox with the factory throttle bodies attached The Factory ECU's are buried on the passenger and driver side engine compartment behind the air duct tubing for the airbox. Here are the Factory Catalytic Converters which are very big and restrictive Factory Driver and Passenger side Mufflers
Geeezus look at the size of that gearbox!!! it's the same size as the M1 Abrams tank gearbox!! Love it!
+1 I'm pretty sure I wet myself when I opened up the first photo of the interior. Thanks! Please tell me the car will be louder... It looks like the factory is really trying to shut this car up with all that hardware. _J
This car is short on hp and is not making what the factory claims. It could be the way the car was broken in.....I'm not too sure but I have done 4-5 negative pulls on our dyno and this particular car was losing 95-99hp on runs 8 and 9 which is a 22% drivetrain loss. This car is really making 549hp at the flywheel instead of the claimed 570hp.
I wonder if there'll be a sudden rush of new owners getting their cars dyno'd once they read this? Lol!
According to the specs, the 458 has 570hp and 398ft-lbs of torque. Based on my calculation from the graphs, assuming 20% loss from frictional and mechanical losses in the various drivetrain components, the brake horsepower measured at the crankshaft or flywheel on an engine dynamometer would be approximately 562hp. This is a simple calculation, and there are other variables I am overlooking. I doubt owners would have a Lanham Act, 15 U.S.C. 1125(a) claim.
If you look at my dyno graph with the AFR which is attached the stock ECU prgram has the car running pretty rich on the top end which could make this car down on power. I was expecting this car to put down around 565-570 rwhp but this could be due to the factory ECU file. Either way we will be tuning the car with the EVOMSit tuning software to smooth out the AFR on this car with the new exhaust. Image Unavailable, Please Login
