I suggest Hotel ZaZa for some interesting people watching and drinks at night... (also my hotel of choice) I still think Monicas Aca Y Alla in Deep Ellum (near downtown) has the best Mexican and atmosphere around. Blue Fish Sushi on lower greenville is great, as is Steel (sushi), which is close to your hotel. The mansion does a great Sunday brunch, just be sure to break out the $$$ West Village is also close to your hotel.. fun shopping, along with great people watching from the patio of Taco Diner and Mi Cocina (GREAT Mexican as well) Go visit Boardwalk Ferrari, they usually have cool stuff on the showroom floor. Lamborghini Dallas is right on the other side of the highway... they usually have a few toys. Bentley dealership is right down the road from your hotel as well... not big, but typically a few toys. Straight line auto is hidden in a warehouse area south of 635 and east of 75. They always have TONS of cars.... usually behind chainlink fence, but worth a look..
Arlington has some great strip bars down from the GM PLant.....LOL! Seriously, I don't know exactly where this guy is but there's a HUGE collection of vintage Racing Posters with collector Jacques Grelley.. Have you ever met this guy, Rob?? He had Fangio sign some repros of the Cuban Grand Prix he missed being kidnapped, before Fangi passed...all I have is a phone number 819 261-3175 I worked in Arlignton for Chase Bank for a long while but never tracked this cat down....
The Cowgirl Museum in the Stockyards of Fort Worth.....I donated to construction of that. Glad they filled your date book!!!
i bought some photos and one poster from him in 2003. things looked original. i was in Cuba 1952-6 so the poster, signed by Juan was a no brainier, not cheap
LoD is no longer on the other side of the tollway. They've moved to Richardson on 75 between Spring Valley and Belt Line.
+1 to all of this. LoD has an SV,and when I went,a new LP570-4,but that was June. Also,as bbs911 mentioned, they have moved locations. I went when they had the temporary room in Boardwalk Audi. Boardwalk Ferrari is the best car dealer in all of DFW imo. The last I went, they had 3 or 4 430 Scuderias in the showroom. But I havent been there since June. Straightline Auto is a cool place as well. They indeed have TONS of cars. The last I went, less than a month ago, they had numerous AMGs,Bentleys (including 2 SuperSports),Challenge Stradale,Superleggera,DBS,and an LP640 (which was picked up while I was there).
My company put me in a nice B&B for a few months, I'd stumble out on Saturday morning the worse for wear and into some Wedding Reception or something, using the grounds.....LOL! What in this picture DOES NOT belong?? The tall guy carrying an AJ Foyt duffle bag out to his TransAm....
GLAD to hear that, does he have any presence since then? Internet or something?? I would have loved to just see his inventory.......
GT3 in his space last night. When I asked him if he'd gone German he said no, he's still a fan of Italian. In fact he has a new one. A 458. Traded the 599. He says the 458 is amazing, and he likes it better than the 599.
I agree. You might want to see the video in my Canada thread pushing a 458 on the heels of a 430 Scud.
I lived in north Arlington for about a year, my old apartment was staggering distance from the old Ranger ballpark, (circa 1991) lots of bars & clubs back then. One of my all time favorites haunts was Skippy's Mistake, the most infamous place in Arlington. Thinking of those hard drinkin' days makes my liver quiver. Now I just stay on the west side of the metromess, lots to see & do in the Panther City. I highly recommend you visit downtown, the cultural district, & around the TCU campus. Let me know if you want a tour.
business has stopped my trip. Debbie got lucky. i want to thank all for the info. i will be able to use everything in the future. things are better this year than any of the last three and i could really use days away but not this time. i was really looking forward to this time. thanks again. only cost is an unusable air ticket.
