Same here. I'm generally coordinated and have good rhythm, but for whatever reason I've never been able to do both together. I'm always amazed watching someone like Paul Simon who can play intricate finger-picked songs while singing.

i have a a few guitars, actually more amps than guitars. I went though a "how many boutique amps can I buy" stage, my current favorite is a Soldano Lucky 13. I have a few early 70's strats, but the best player is my black 79, which by no accounts was a well built guitar compared to the pre-cbs'ers but there is something about the guitar, sound, feel, soul that is amazing, much better than the other guitars I have.

So you look a bit like Keith Richards. Please tell me how you play like him but w/out the heroine & ethanol.

Better clarify "when". Telling someone they play like Keith Richards these days could be an insult:)

I have owned my Guild D-40 12 string since buying it new in 1972. I was buying a low end Martin 12 at Arnold and Morgan Music in Dallas, and while they were putting new strings on it, I got to playing the Guild, and it just flat sounded better. Called my brother's roomate,
John Bowley of Bowley and Wilson fame here locally, and he said go with the Guild, and I have never regretted it.

Bought a piece of art back in 2001, a 1998 Jim Olson Small Jumbo. Amazing inlays, and finger picking sound. It's what you see James Taylor playing all the time, including on The Simpsons, and you know them by the O on the top of the headstock. It comes out for special occasions. He only builds about 60 a year in Minnesota.

I am mostly an acoustic 60's -70's player, but finally learned a couple from the last 20 years. Not a lead singer by any means, but really like putting harmonies behind a good singer. Seems like at a party, or impromtu sessions, no one remembers the words of a whole song, so I get forced into getting the melody out there somehow.

I am getting to do a "songwriter in the round" night at our country club next month, and have 4 great singer / players lined up. We will do a song each, and go around the horn to the next guy/ gal. Going to start with something familiar for the crowd with Tequila Sunrise, moving on to Falling Slowly from "Once" and John Mayer's "Daughters" before finishing with an original I wrote instead of a paper for an SMU class back in 1971, "History of the Pop Rock Culture". Great class other than the 8am time, and the 50 year old teacher who seemed ancient at the time, really liked starting our day with The Who or Pink Floyd. We all thought she must have been toking on the way to class.

We have all heard tales of him completely wasted on stage. What real rock band doesn’t have a bad day at work? Yeah, that is part of the history. Happened at Woodstock – happens now.

only thing that would make it cooler is if it had a 68? vintage headstock :p

My frankenstrat has a number of '62 reissue parts on it.... but it would be nice to have a "stock" strat beside the two mis matched strats I have :)

In the shower one would think it's Pink Floyd (choice of singer left open) when I'm 'washing' it twice. Being silly because I have played the guitar for the past 40yr's, well tried too but oh well.

Yes, everyone should take their Dinky out and play with it from time to time. Orange sunburst, huh? Maybe you should have a talk with UroTrash about that.
