thats a very old (first half 1980's) factorybuilt leader kit
mr. Ballestrini is one of the founders and still CEO of bbr.

Its pretty crude, but thats one of the charms of early models.

Here is another early 330GTS and a recent find, a built 375MM by Feelling 43 in 1:43, its in need of some repairs and astonishing in detail.

In a few weeks I will have a few more gems to show!

(need to pick them up, but the weather is terrible, and these are busy times for restaurant-owners)

I love these pre China models , they have a big lost soul , I think they cry out revenge against all new BBR , MR , ABC , Tameo , Looksmart and Tecnomodel that comes from the far east .
I bought both in the old Zeppelin shop in Milan , and at that time you could ring the door and speaking with Carlo Brianza or Alberto Balestrini ...and now ... where is this door ?

    The door is closed!
Nowadays BBR employes only 5-7 workers in Italy.
Sadly, there are NO models being built in Italy anymore.
I can understand it from a business-perspective but the feel and passion is completely gone. I no longer collect or buy new BBR's, new ferrari's like the 458 are produced in 1000's, creating a limited edition in every color or wheel-design..
I know several serious collectors that are turning away.

I rather spend more money on a superbly built model by one of the artisans..

I agree with you Hans. There have been many businesses that have gone to third world countries\or other countries in the hopes to save money in labor costs. But most, like an old aerospace company i used to work for, find out the hard way by moving shop to another country. The aerospace company i used to work for, moved to Thailand. For cheaper labor costs in the hopes to put more money in the owners pockets. This failed miserably for the owners. Quality lacked, experience in manufacturing lacked for these workers, etc etc etc.... Nontheless, the company eventually folded and is no more!! Oh well.... Perhaps BBR will see this when they see lower sales in their newer models that are built in China. I have heard nothing but bad stories about these models built over there. Very low quality, poor builds, details missings etc... Nothing against China or their workers at all. But, there is obviously a ripple effect that will eventually hit BBR and their sales numbers which may make them bring the shop back home where it originally was... Italy..

I love older built BBR's, Le Phoenix, AMR etc... That is all I purchase\collect now- with the exception of a rare few newer builds from BBR built in Italy. BBR50BL2 - Ferrari 250 Boano 0641GT is one example :)

James, you know we think alike!

There are some new BBR's that are very good, mostly RGM or Calsito releases.
But the best BBR's were made in the late 80's and early 90's when BBR was BBR an italian company!

Before the days of internet (not even that long ago) it was allways exciting to walk in a store to see the latest models.
I was subscribed to TSSK,the mailordercatalogue of Milano43, BBR's were exclusive and rare. Ordering a BBR or AMR took months before it arrived and the mystique of Brianza and several other artists was a part of collecting..
Nowadays its easier and ebay is flooded with new bbr's.. Its the challenge to find something special, and the search is a big part of the fun of collecting.

Just found these a couple of weeks ago..
The owner was happy to sell them to me, because I was so enthousiastic (they are superb!)
I am picking up them up in a couple of weeks..(and some more)
AMR and Le Phoenix built by Lex Rijsdijk of the Netherlands
