Lamborghini Sesto Elemento concept may be the tease of Paris Is this the concept car that Lamborghini has been teasing us in such an achingly slow manner leading up to this week's Paris Motor Show? All signs point to yes, but it's still too early to know for sure. In any case, the Sesto Elemento if it is indeed the next Lambo to be hung on the walls of teenage boys from Constantinople to Timbuktu will push forward with the jet-fighter-ish angular styling theme set in motion by the limited production Reventon from the 2007 Frankfurt Motor Show... for better or for worse. As expected, the Sesto Elemento (which translated to English means Sixth Element we'd expect some sort of Bullish name if it hits production) is crafted almost exclusively from carbon fiber. That means it's light... as in just 2,200 pounds (999 kilograms) light. That's seriously low for a V10-powered supercar, and it means an estimated 0 to 62 (100 kilometers per hour) run of just 2.5 seconds and a top speed of 217.5 miles per hour (350 kph). With a weight that low, we wouldn't expect any kind of hybrid powertrain, but you never know. It's not really possible to get a good feel for the appearance of the Sesto Elemento based on this grainy photo, but we're certainly intrigued. Stay tuned for a full high-res photo gallery of Lambo's latest concept after our coverage begins in earnest this Thursday. Thanks to all who sent this in! Image Unavailable, Please Login
Hmmm... that spy shot/rendering actually looks like something Lambo might put out. It is the next logical step in the direction they have been going stylistically. My only reservation is Im not sure if its far enough...
Out of all the crazy Lamborghini concepts I've seen. This one actually looks pretty good and not too crazy. -Jared
Looks like lamborghini Cala concept 1995 It looks like the designers tried very very hard to do something... "hootweels lambo" tries to hard to impress.
The design is exaggerated due to it being a Concept vehicle When production rolls around it will probably look a lot more pleasing The crazy part is the performance specs and carbon construction.
I like it, much more than the 458 too. I think a realistic weight target will be 1200KG though, because I assume this will be the Gallardo replacement? 0-60 in 3s as well. They have of course have to think about their new flagship Murcielago replacement, they can't let the entry level Lamborghini be faster than the flagship...
The whole car is made of carbon fiber so the weight can very much be 999kg. The bad news is that this is merely a concept to show what Lamborghini can do. This will not go into production and is not the succesor to the Murcielago. That will be unveiled in Geneve 2011.
It's to show what they can do? All they can do is add a body kit to the Cala? Create a modern take on the Muira or Countach. Not a retro design, but something along those lines. That will create some serious excitement.
Mmmm... that photo looks like some sort of "Reventon" version of the Gallardo. The windscreen and A pillar look the same.
That's my take. Yes, wilder. But still too familiar -- at least from a styling perspective. Kind of like a hot rodder took a Gallardo and tricked it out rather than something really new.
Anybody ever ride in or drive an original Lotus Elite (Elan predecessor)? Over roads with any kind of gravel/road junk, it sounded like you were in a dumpster with someone throwing rocks at it. They better have plenty of insulation in that thing or it will sound like a drum. Taz Terry Phillips
I wasn't too impressed with the design of the Reventon, I mean, square and angular, yeah I get it. This isn't much better. The apparent need of an actual rear wing would put it years behind a 458 in terms of aerodynamic solutions. You'd have to be 12 years old to think that this hits the mark.
Comparing that ugly lambo concept with a 458 is an insult to the 458. Real pictures of the car : http://www.autoblog.com/photos/lamborghini-sesto-elemento-concept/#3416364
