    Hi -

    A friend of mine and her sister are visiting NYC (from Toronto) for the day and I want to treat them to a nice lunch for her 40th B-day.

    Ideally, it would be a spot near 180 Varick Street (in SoHo??) as she has a hair appointment with some big TV star hair designer at 1.45.

    Any good places for them to go for lunch nearby where they can see and be seen? Budget is flexible...willing to splurge.

    Balthazar is a good lunch / brunch spot near there to see and be seen. Felix would also work if you want a more upbeat scene
