I've no affiliation and all that. Like many of you, I get these on occasion from Sheehan. He does a great job on history and details. This, to me, appears to be quite nice, well serviced, with luggage, books and all the bits. Appears to be a clean, cared-for car with a few nice mods (though the plexi rear is a matter of taste, now an irreversible one.) http://www.ferraris-online.com/pages/carintro.php?reqcardir=FE-512TR-91937 A lot of car for sub $80k.
How much is a set of OEM wheels/tires ? I imagine you could flog the Novitec's to cover the replacement cost of the OEM items ? I prefer yours........
Nice looking car, and the engine bay plexiglass modification is actually quite cool. Those aftermarket wheels are horrible though - I'd replace those with OEM. All the best, Andrew.
Those are not Novitecs. Not sure what they are, but not Novitecs. My car has NF2s and I had a set of NF1s.. Taz Terry Phillips
I was thinking the same before I read your post. These wheels just don't seem to sit right for me, the standard TR wheel is a beautiful classic. Not feeling the M rear either .........
Those have been added to the car. This is an early 512 but even the late 512TR had the same tail light treatment as the Testarossa
Except for the 512TR lenses were 'smoked'. I didn't know that til someone pointed it out on MY car! Anyway, I actually prefer the 'M' rear lights, but NOT the front . The subject car has had some money spent on it, not all recoupable.
I am kind of curious about the extent of the "transaxle and differential overhaul" and why was it necessary, meaning, was there collateral damage? How good of a job did they do or did they just patch it up? "In August-October 2009 512 TR s/n 91937 was treated to an engine-out cam-belt service, a reseal, all new fluids, a transaxle and differential overhaul and new rear tires" It would be a hell of a buy if the differential had been upgraded to a -M unit. ......................
That does not look like the Schedoni luggage set offered at the time. Though admittedly I am more familiar with the Testarossa luggage set, I do not recall the black hardware or extra closure belts on any previous offering. Agree with many others - give me the stock TR wheels.
Correct that in NOT 512TR luggage. Also the tool kit is wrong. looks like it is for a 360. Too many non OE items on this car. Maybe that's why it is priced so cheap.
Your lenses are smoked? Are you sure that is factory? Mine are not, I know your car is a late model maybe the late cars have different lenses.
I bet if you look closely, you might find they are. But hey, it's Ferrari... they make it up as they go sometimes! Its in my TR book, but found a source here as well... http://www.qv500.com/ferraritrp2.php with the operative quote as, "Other detail improvements came in the form of colour-coded sills, a new engine cover and smoked tail light clusters. There was also a chromed Cavallino Rampante at the back, the tidier rear valance getting a colour-coded bumper. Gorgeous new five spoke Speedline alloy wheels contributed to the fresh appearance while inside, Pininfarina fitted a more contemporary dash and centre console." Wonder if the subject car's owner kept all the original bits?
Factory fitted luggage! Hahahaha, to fit in a Range Rover maybe!! TR Luggage is near identical to Testa with slight shape differences. I have two full sets for sale if anyone interested. Here's a pic of one set. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Well, Range Rover has a factory, it IS luggage, so what's the prob?!?! Anyway, your luggage is gorgeous. You and I were looking at the same time as I recall. I finally ended up finding a black set. Great stuff. Are either of yours posted in the classifieds? Pretty rare stuff.
Sucks for the seller - he's been waiting a year and did alot of work but then couldnt import it into the phillipines... "Current owner could not get the needed clearance to ship this car to the Philippines as the government changed so it will be resold in the US"
Reason I made the comment is that I had mine off to clean in and around the light area and they weren't smoked but mine is an early 512 so maybe that had some leftover lenses from Testarossa
It's the 512TR I always wish they'd have made, M rear-TR nose. Love it, would make a fantastic driver, just don't go near the concours lawn.
From the ad........................ ................."Transaxle overhaul, R and I engine and gear box, Major service, replace cam seals, adjust valves, replace cam belts and retime cams, change all fluids, separate engine and gear box, replace broken diff, replace 2nd gear syncro, replace plugs, flush brake system. Total: $7,800.00.......................................... (Still, I wonder what differential they used to repair this)
All TRs do. The car looks like a great driver. The owner should have kept the OEM parts for 'easy' reversal. NOTE: the front bumper looks off to me on the driver's side. Might be an optical illusion, but I noticed it on a few pictures..
