With Flyboy selling his 355 spider to make room in the garage, I found a video of his newest toy. I had the pleasure of riding in it the other day, and all I have to say about it is :IT IS BAD A$$. I've driven LOTS of really really fast cars, and this thing is awesome. He loves it, and with full factory warranty still in place after the conversion, I don't blame him. We'll have him back in some find Italian leather seats one of these days.....maybe with some hairdryers boosting it, huh Uncle Jessie? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=epsjGELN1jg
I got home last night my gut still hurting from laughing..... Yup, my email lit him up as we expected! Now I have to learn that Texting thing.... this has only just begun! Hair Dryers.... For a long time I have stayed clear of using them in a race engine builds BUT I think we might have found our joint project. We will wind up the rubber band so tight on that Bennie mounted propeller..... No need for a tach as there wont be any time to look at that, shift lights will have to do. I will be measuring dome thickness on Cosworth pistons today to see how much can come out of them. He's not gone, not by a long shot, we just have to change the program a little. Back to the thinking of the CanAm Series of the 60's-early 70's, "Where Excess was Barely Adequate". Throw out the idea of the BB gun, we have to build a Barrett. Mrs Flyboy will have a contract out on both of us before we are done.
After many posts saying I'd never own one, my brother (who sells them) convinced me to pull the trigger. The attraction of "warranty" really appealed to me...I also don't feel nervous parking at a grocery, Blockbuster video, and all of the every day things we do in life...Here in hillbilly yuk, yukville I was also getting TIRED of every jacka$$ at a stop light asking me retarded questions about the car....It was like constantly having it on ebay! I have no time any more to tinker, and truly after I drove the car I was quickly educated how this thing could destroy cars costing 250K + built in Italy...Granted there is nothing *exclusive* to the american iron and I will always be loyal to Italian flare...I refuse to pay ridiculous figures for a toy at this stage...On another note, we live very close to Kentucky the birthplace of these cars...I have watched many folks suffer as GM closed plants all around us and frankly in this economy I fealt compelled to 1)By from my brother 2) Drive a car built just a few miles away...I believe it is important when the chips are down... A ZO6 is fast as hell but imagine 675 hp (all motor) no hair dryers, no blowers that can make mince meat of a ZR1 and eat even the baddest euro cars for lunch... I merged on to the interstate and met up with a dude on a crotch rocket (Big crotch rocket too).. Do you know what its like to see the look on a guys face riding one of those as you pull a car length between gear changes all the way to "his top speed"??? This is THE fastest car I have ever owned period...At this stage I think the only thing I could own quicker would be a UR Gallardo TT conversion... See ya fellas, my spider may be going to a very worthy home soon...I did all I could to bring her back from the dead...
OK I'm in. Guess I'll have to unmothball my 1.7ltr C100 Zakspeed engine..it only puts out 600hp at 9200rpms but when I put it in my Dodge Omni, Lingenfelter will have to do some serious work just to stay in my rear view mirror...lol Image Unavailable, Please Login
Damn, Bruce. Don't be showing that kind of stuff to Flyboy......he was in a mad hunt a few years ago for a Cosworth DFX. I have NO idea wtf he was going to do with that. To quote the movie Grumpy Old Men , "The man's a menace."!!!!! Did I ever mention he used to own Butch Leitzingers Nissan 300ZX that won the 24 hrs of Daytona? Had that here at the shop for a while and built a motor for it until he moved to bigger and better things.....ya never know what he's going to come up with next.
I see you must have got yur Turbo Stomper Moonshine Still up and running.... Ease off on the sampling sizes Bruce!
Snag one of those Blackhawks flying overhead or when the next one lands in the parking lot... I have an idea.
Hell, after talking politics with our Flyboy last night, I have unmanned Predators flying overhead now!
Based on the emails I was trading with Flyboy the other night, satellites are currently changing orbit. I see a common thread here.... lets blame Bruce!
WTH!!!!!..... repeat after me..... "Plastic is for Tuperware". What the hell is going on out that way?! Dodge Omni's and plastic cars? Gary.... a little help here?
Autographed no less! The Hula Doll high bid wont stand a chance when I put the Autographed Coffee Mug on Ebay!
It's not much different here...Fortuantely she never saw salted streets.... I was busy putting on gold connectors all winter
I'll be working on him. Maybe a little trip to the Rockies would bring him back. Hell, maybe if we come out, Bruce can show up too with some of that Georgia moonshine and Mrs. Scuderia Rampante can see what kind of damage a bunch of loose cannons on alcohol can do!!! Jetfixr not having a Ferrari is kinda like when Maverick was going to drop out of Top Gun school. We just need give him a guilt trip like Viper did.
Putting on the pressure eh? I want Bruce to give me a price on that damn Cosworth! I was serious about the Lotus mod!
Here, this looks interesting.... http://www.race-cars.com/engsales/cosworth/1195516318/1195516318ss.htm
Damn James your old TTZ06 embarrassed that ZR1! I also own a Z06 & that's crazy but I just purchased that same Gt21 cam for my Z. I'm having it installed in a few months
So you can end up with a Plastic, 4 Cylinder Vega with a Hair Dryer???? No, if its going to be done it needs 8+ cylinders, a power plant with Italian heritage and something that will make a Big bang when it ventilates... those just make a little pop. I want something where Gary and I would look at each other and say, "I'm not going to drive it, you drive it".... It would be like the old Chex cereal commercial with Mikey...... "Hey, I know... lets get Flyboy to drive it, he'll drive anything"... The first platform that comes to mind to dump it in is my old M8C McLaren Tube frame CanAm Special. That has enough rear tires to hook it up and the LG600 trans was made to hold 1K HP for a full race. I had a customer offer me a 400GT engine for nothing..... think Ferrari 712 with a squeeze horn on the dash, a pair of Pia lights on the fenders, a pair of hair dryers, a Frisbee Lola snorkel (so Bruce gets on board with this, he's goofy on snorkels) and a Dealer Plate hung off the high wing as it wouldn't stand a chance of passing a DOT inspection. Strap into that with the engine 3"s behind your right ear... that oughta raise the bar a notch or two! Back to you Gary....?
