    - I ordered new trunk hinges from Superformance, but they've only shipped a RH one and said they can no longer get anymore (either LH or RH), so I either hope I can find an equivalent LH one or send it back and start from scratch.

    - DinoParts.de shows a different style of trunk hinge, apparently black and made out of a different material. Does anyone have experience with these?

    - When my car was having work done on it, they got replacement hinges (not sure from where), but they weren't quite the same as the originals and resulted in the trunk lid protruding out from the back of the car when closed!! So off with the replacement hinges and back on with the original, loose tired hinges.

So does anyone have a `foolproof' source for Dino 246GT trunk hinges that are a direct replacement for the originals? If so, please post that source or PM me. If it matters, they're for a 1971 Euro model.

I am I am in the same situation, but not missing, yet should be repaired as they bind when I swing the trunk up. Mine is an L. version and the I have the idea that the pins should be replaced, as they probably are worn out of round.
Anybody have any thoughts on this?
    Regards, Alberto

My LH hinge is very loose and either needs to be replaced or rebuilt, but it costs more to rebuild than to buy new. Since one has to be replaced, it makes sense to replace both so they operate the same.

Reminder that your body number is stamped on the trunk hinges so if you want to preserve originality of your car (and it still has the original hinges) it might be best to just pay a bit more to rebuild them.

I have found that when my lid did not close properly it was the mounting bolts that were loose rather than wear on the hinge pins. You might want to double check...

The repair/restoration shop clearly stated that the hinge pins on the LH hinge were gone and the only way to fix them would be to bore them out (making the holes bigger) and using larger pins. This would be a 2-3 hours of work, or about $250-350 per hinge. Replacement hinges seemed to be a lot more cost effective (Superformance was selling them for £83.10 ea).

HMB, It is a possibilty, that I may offer to have your hinges re-pinned, but only after I do mine. Depending on the outcome, I will let you know. IT WILL DEFINITELY COST LESS.
I assume you are not in any mad rush? Please pm me, and we'll take it from there. The originality of the hinges is very important...
    Regards, Alberto

I just received items from my first order with Superformance and I'm not sure what they're trying to pull over on me.

    - the RH hinge they sent me seems `frozen'...I'm unable to make the joints move at all. So I'm reluctant to install it. This can't be normal, right? Suggestions?

    - the fuel filler rubber protector flap they sent appears to NOT be the "original" one that sells for £20.70. Instead I received what appears to be the basic one (which has no texture on it like the "original" one) that they sell for £12.70. I was charged the £20.70. So unless their pictures of these on their site are backwards, I was sent the cheaper one but charged for the more expensive one (yes, my invoice does call out the one I ordered).

    - the door switches, which I wanted to replace because mine are flaky (when door is open, sometimes light goes on but I can wiggle the switch and light goes off), came but the black actuator pin is half the length of the originals. I'll have to see if they still work by confirming my interior light isn't still on when the doors are closed.

Now I know lots of people use/have used Superformance, but I don't like getting an order only to find out then that I didn't receive what I ordered and paid for.

Has anyone else experienced issues with Superformance?

I do not see any #'s on the existing hinges. If I recall, if they're there, they're visible w/o having to remove the hinges, correct? So that would imply the hinges I need to replace are not the originals.

You could try squeezing the pins in a press to tighten them up. I did that on mine with success. Can't imagine the pins wearing out. Most likely the nylon bushings have worn enough to make then loose.

The (RH) hinge sent appears to be the same type as what's in the car...I just can't make the new hinge move at all. See attached photos of both existing hinges as well as what I was sent.

What I want is a set of hinges to replace the existing ones. I have to be very diligent to carefully align the sides before closing the trunk. I figure hinges are like tires...you should replaced them as a set when one goes bad on you.

    Oh, it's a 1971 246GT Euro model, series `M' (01712).

I believe that the number stampings on the hinges came only in later cars. Your 71 should have plain (un-stamped with numbers) hinges so it is very possible that the existing units are the originals.

I bought these hinges some time ago for one of my Dino's. They are slightly different in the attachment point being oblonged and recessed. I don't how often the show up ebay anymore, but I would check occasionally if you can't find others.

T Rutlands seems to show some in stock as does www.allferrariparts.com

Both are very reputeable companies. Dennis and Norma (allferrariparts) seem to have a lower price. You might email both and ask for photo's.

Allferrariparts is selling trunk hinges for $175 each...that's quite expensive.

When Cavallo tried to replace my hinges, the ones they got were slightly different than my originals and they couldn't get them to fit...I didn't want them to try to rework the mounting points in the trunk. So it appears that maybe there are different versions of the hinges floating around out there?

this seems to be an exception...
Normally they startet to stamp the body no. into the hinges from E-serie only.
Can you please e-mail a picture for me.
Does any other 206 GT until M-serie owner have the body no. stamped in the hinges?
    Regards Matthias

What is the best way to clean up the hinges? I was considering bead blasting lightly so the body number stampings weren't impacted at all.
