    Hi,

Went to ride the car for a while after work. At some points I noticed like if I was loosing the power steering. The moment I was parking the car at home I lost it completely, checked fluid level and had none! Apparently there were no leaks around the pump or underneath the engine bay but, oh my!! when I looked under the front part od the car It was leaking all the fluid. I believe that the damaged tube is the numer 14 in the picture. Here goes my question, can it be replaced easily? Is it just pulling off the undertray panel and replacing the tube or will the steering rack have to come out?

The funny thing about this is that since I bought the car, I´ve been tracking it, driving it to redline and it has been reliable as my toyota. Today was the only day that I just went for a relaxed ride without even going beyond 3500rpm and this crap happens... I know it has nothing to do but its like if the car was punishing me for not flooring it XD

How do you know its number 14 leaking? You say its damaged?? Did you hit it at some point? :):)

You sure its not leaking from the rack end seals?? That is more common. :):)

I havent replaced too many leaking p/steering hoses on steering racks before. Usually racks leak. :):)

I think its 14 because when I had all the undertray off for repair that tube was a bit dirty with oil. It was the only tube dirty but I just thought: well just a small leak, after all, what's an Italian car without leaks? :)

I'll try to get the undertray off later and see... problem is that the lift isnt installed yet so Ill have to crawl underneath it like a snake.

Ok man, I suggest you degrease/clean that area then start the car and try and locate the leak after that. :):)

In the end it wasnt the number 14 tube, it was number 21. It was completely broken. Also, and this is something that I would like someone to confirm, there was a metal piece inside this tube to restraint the flow. Is this stock??? In the parts diagram it doesnt appear anywhere.

Ah, too easy. Thats the return hose. Low pressure hose as opposed to hose #14 which is the high pressure hose. :):)

That definitely is a flow restrictor. Dont know if its stock or not sorry mate. Need one of the experts to tell us that one. :D:D

Glad to see it was an easy and cheap fix. That hose should be cheaper than the high pressure hose #14.:eek:

Thats the strange thing, if its the return/low pressure hose, why would it need a flow restrictor??? maybe so that the fluid goes back to the tank with less pressure and doesn´t blow the cap off or something?? i said I´m not sure if its stock because this metal piece was held on the outside of the tube by a screw collar which doesn´t appear in the parts diagram...
