If nothing else it will make pretty sounds.

The only thing that has kept me from working on that car for years has been the Chevy engine, just not my area of knowledge. I am just not comfortable with pistons that wouldn't fit in a coffee can.

Anyone with their wits about them would use a 550/575 engine but I have a nostalgic problem. An old race car has to look and sound old even if it requires leaving some performance on the table.

This will have to be an underground Skunkworks project as I will be shreaded for building a non original red car. Something must be built to chase after Flyboy....

Starring Uncle Jessie as Fred, Jetfixr as Lamont and Enginefxr as Rollo...... and our special guest star, Bruce as Grady.

I guess it's about time to talk Lamont into firing up the 421 and heading west for a few days. Do you know anywhere we could rent a minibike when we get there? :D

I think it was Flyboy that told me about your plans of you and him riding up to the shop door on a Mini Bike. That was in the middle of our last gut busting laugh fests... Kris put the dog leashes on the critters and left as she knew we wouldnt be leaving work quickly when the laughing started. It was right after telling of the Mini Bike plans he told me of the Texts.... I near fell out of my chair!

....and Sunday I find a 51 Ford Pickup for sale in a lot 3 miles from the house. Some things are just too odd to ignore... it's a sign.

Looks like my plans for the "It's only bent a little bit" Piper will be put on hold once again. Sure hope I get around to that quest before I go toes up! My guess is bent up planes will not be in short supply for a while yet. That allows me time to work Kris a bit more, she has not warmed up to me having a salvage plane in the driveway.... something about too many projects, things falling out of the sky and her Ferrari lacking an engine... SOP wife gripe.

No short supply from what I've heard.
Dog the Lear Hunter is busy right now.....now all he needs is a huge mullett, a 9mm strapped to his thigh and to buy Mrs. Flyboy some 52DD's.

51 Ford pickup.....did it happen to have a 'dog humping a leg' logo on the door? I'm thinking that thing towing the Weasel project would be the topper to it all.

A Reality show in the making.... a Flyboy make over... so many possibilities.

Exactly what I was thinking with the truck. An earlier discussion with Plugzit on GFRT class rules was the requirement to show up pulling a single axle open hay trailer with the car on it.

The Jet Pack lunatic (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X1mFSPKotwA) who is a friend of ours told me of plans with Turbines the size of a Briggs.... could make the Mini Bike side show thrilling. If you only knew how many times that aluminum back pack was Tig'd back together! We will need something to keep Dog occupied during the build time.

Mr. and Mrs. Jetson have their Halloween costumes picked out....Mr and Mrs Lear Hunter.

(She'll be pissed if she hears about THIS pic!!!)

Oh, yeah.....great posting that jet pack video.......if that guy has one for sale, it'll be shipping to Cincy as soon as Mr Jetson sees the video. I can hear the traffic reporter now on the Cincinnati news... "It appears we have a man flying a jet pack of some sort in CVG airspace....."

Fear not. For about 14 of the 15 years they have been around I have been dealing with that. I have the cure, not a suppression aid to once again delay the inevitable.

Patch fixes are for those looking for future work, real fixes require patience, focus and attention. The cost of ignoring it in hopes it will go away.... priceless, and usually ownership! I have not been beating my head against the wall only on the theory it feels good when I stop. Think I would gamble 40 years reputation on something I will never see a payback on if it didn't work? "Hope in one hand, what's in the other and which is fuller?"

Fix that damn thing right so we can get on to something that requires real thinking.... how to screw up Flyboys idea of "exciting". Give the owner the option to fix it right or send it on its way, simple as that, this one is solved... Next?

OHHH HELL.... the answer has been right in front of me and you gave it about a dozen posts ago, a fool I am!!

I'm not going to build this for the one wearing the cap with a propeller on the top, I will build it for the boss! Now wouldn't that change the topic at the dinner table... who can get to 'The Cone' quicker?! Surely there must be a few stop signs and turns along the way there, Flyboy wouldnt stand a chance.... a clash of the Titans!

He has more "For Sale" signs in his neighborhood than any place I've ever seen.

I heard more stories about the 4th of July display last night. My jaw and stomach are still sore from the laughing.

Now that the local farmers have blasted my place with bean and corn dust, the mice are looking for a winter campground. To hell with the Diablo cam, I may need to run south again to get Mr Jetsons machine gun pellet rifle.

After the Monday from hell, I'm on to new and better adventures now.
Buttoning up one 355 and getting ready to rip another one apart, while the electrical gremlins are shoved into the corner until I get the thumbs up.

You have a connector kit for boats yet? Damn injected and blown twin engine 42' Fountain out here has ECU and sensor problems too....may be time to bust out the Saran wrap to insulate these things from the elements! :D
Installing a blower on a Shelby Mustang too....when some of this **** is gone we'll be trekking to the Rockies to see what we can screw up out there. And to also set you up on our texting list. Ask Flyboy about the time I texted him if he had tea-bagged a certain someone.....he nearly choked on that one!!!!

We dont have connector problems on the boats out here, its the desert and the water is very dry. With the inventory I now have... you photo a connector and I will have it covered!!!

Flyboy thought I was joking.... I ordered the 400 engine as I couldnt shake the thought of the project. With a whole shelf of poped F40 turbo's... it might even get hair dryers. I have not heard back on the Lucas unit but that can come after the lump is done and hanging from the Hewland. So much for my list of 200 other things I should be doing in the evenings.

For the record Enginefxr told me that he'd rather "tea bag" a rat trap than mess with pushrod V8 cretin motors.....

I was in tears over that one!

Considering I have been told the same by a half dozen folks regarding these projects we are speaking of.... a new badge of honor.

Now having a bit more insight into the direction the one holding the BBgun is likely heading..... Sure hope you are up on your computer skills Gary... He's going to put his eye out with that smelly jelly bean! You will have to consult with Bruce as he is a leading expert on alcohol related subjects. We did agree that the two subjects should have a life expectancy of more than 500 miles between rebuilds, a bit of a let down as logic and reason started to enter into the conversation. Lets just say we have progressed past "Excess" and well into "Absurd".

I am more nostalgic and will head down the dinosaur route with the old stuff that runs on race gas. One day someone will have to let my driver in on the Challenge Series she just got entered into. I hope I am not handicaping her by using "old" stuff but to wear the GFRT badge.... there are some rules, when the driver doesnt qualify, the car must.

I told him I was pretty sure you were serious on the project.
He called me last night, he's arranging a peek at some Cosworth engines in Indy sometime soon...he's said he's serious about the Lotus/Cosworth deal too. He's gotta gas the 421 up to get to Indy, might as well top it all the way off and head for the mountains.
Hell maybe if the guy doesn't want over $500.00 for the 51 Ford truck, I could buy up a project too!! :D

BTW- I looked at the rules for the Pikes Peak Hill Climb.....they do have a 'vintage race car' class. ;)

Do you smell what the rock is cookin?

I've heard that Dave has made a slight change in his project direction...one which could spell the end to rattlesnakes and alcohol engined English cars.

How hot is this Chef goin with his Pièce de résistance?...Habenero?...He considers that as something for wimps.

He's goin full naga jolokia..a.k.a. the Ghost Pepper.

Looks as though the gaunlet has been thrown down by Iron Chef Helms....

Only way to settle this is with an East West challenge...

Those Eastern boys with their youth and a big bankroll vs two wrinkeled old farts that are broke.

The West has spoken...what say ye Eastern boys?

A lunch conversation with Bruce... imagine what comes of that.

He only read as far as me handicaping my driver and leaving HP on the table and that was all he could take before making the call. Something on the line of "Have you lost your mind?"

Dont know what you call the excess of absurd but now a new plan is evolving.

Wow.....now we've evolved this thing into a challenge!
Guess I've got to quit dragging my feet on getting the dyno up and running again - I missed out on alot of money by not having back together this year, but now I have REAL incentive to finish it.
And with 6000 feet of runway available, we may just be up to the task, except for the "large bankroll" quote that Bruce made. Hell, I have to duct tape the ripped out crotch of all my work jeans to keep the boys in place as there isn't enough money or time to go to the store to buy new jeans.

As for the young calves project I'm thinking something along the lines of this:http://www.chez-williams.com/Hot%20Sauce/hothome.htm

Speaking of that, I went on a hay ride with a bunch of 40+ year olds Saturday night-- the beer flowed like wine and the chili was hot as fire. Even though I added 4 drops to my bowl of a pure hot extract that they say to use 1 drop to a whole pot of chili, my sphincter was cool as an ice cube on Sunday morning.
Man, now my post's are starting to resemble my text messages to Mr Jetson......

Anyway, from a legal standpoint, I think we're going to have the "Discovery" statute in effect-- full disclosure of the absurd, illlogical, absolutely out of the normal realm of reasonable thought process projects I fear we are about to embark on.

Bank roll-Ya, I laughed at that one too....Lets not forget we are in the middle of the "O-conomy"......

Just about everyone I know has their d**k in one hand and something under water in the other..No such thing as bank roll anymore.

I don't think that applies in the West however...I'm willing to bet those two "western misers" have project dough stashed under their mattresses and buried out back in coffee cans beside the chicken coupe....

I dont know if a project standoff is wise with these two Enginefxr...We are dealing with one guy that has vintage race cars hanging on the wall and another fella interested in snorkels that just whipped a Cosworth on us threatening to install in a Dodge Omni...

It's kinda like the US military...If they are willing to fly an F22 at an air show, think what's hidden in the bunker???

I think we are playin with fire....That is unless of course we just mount a PT6 to the hewland!
