    Hello Marc,

I know that this is an old post and I didn't read the whole thing yet, but I also have a 1980 GTSI #33553. Pretty close in number to yours. Mine was also made in Sept. of 1980

Sure, the list on the 308s is constantly evolving....welcome!

As you see we started this thread WAAAAY back....

As Rifledriver has posted on other threads, 1983 was a LONG year for Ferrari and they cranked as many as possible, before having to update specs for 1984.

From my experience in the auto restoration business, I have found that the stamps on the chassis other than the VIN numbers are not related to the build sequence and have no relationship to VIN #. In the 308 situation the lesser number is only the chassis number assigned from the fabricator for his accounting of the chassis and they were not selected by the factory for build in any sequence. The stamp for the VIN and the lesser # stamped on the rear LH side also appears to be of different fonts, and certainly not related to body color
    codes

I am doing a major on my car and finding my GT4 number 410 everywhere. From my limited knowledge of Ferrari I think at the very least the numbers were meant to keep pieces that fit together!!!!! HA

Great job everyone, who looked up a number!

Magnum, can you check the manufacturing date as stamped on the door jamb plate?

(I have full vin for your car, which I also prefer having to be sure of specs and model year).

    Best wishes, Kare

Had a look at this thread too and made an update at:

    http://koti.welho.com/kpietil4/308.htm

Maybe sombody should kick my butt every once in a while per PM, as I keep forgetting this thing - I am a 250-dude after all... It is sort of interesting to follow how it fills up!

    Best wishes, Kare
