You missed me on the list!!
We are now up to 15 Ferraris and 1 Maserati for the run. If you are not a member of the FCA you can join on line at www.ferariclubofamerica.org, then contact me that your application is in the works. The following is a list of who is on the run: Jarrett M. 348 Brannon M. Mondial Jon E. 308 Scott w. 355 Derrick B. Maserati Jano M. 348 Charles C. 328 Greg B. 330 Mike B. 355 Marci H. 355 Brian R. 550 Larry F. 458 Tony G. 348 Don/Pam P. 355 Don/Carolyn 512 George G. 348 We will be finishing up the route in the next 2 weeks, so everyone pray for good weather!
It figures, I'm free from soccer and football, but it appears I have a childcare issue. If anyone has a spare seat, let me know! 2 kids and 2 seater car don't add up to everyone being included.
OK,OK,OK.....I'm in. Just finished filling out the app. I'm now the newest member of FCA...hey, they don't do a background check do they? Cuz I "may" have gotten a ticket about 20 years ago. How far back do they look? LOL
It's about freakin' time!!! Welcome to the club, Marty. We'll do the customary hazing -er-uh- I mean *initiation* next month at Starbucks.
Thanks for joining Marty. By they way they don't look at your driving record just your bank account! Here is the new list. We have had a couple of drop outs but more additions, so the new count is 17 Ferraris and 1 Maserati. Jarrett M. 355 Brannon M. Mondial Don/Carolyn 512 Jon E. 308 Scott W. 355 Derrick B. Maserati Jano M. 348 Charles C. 328 Greg B. 330 Mike B. 355 Marci H. 355 Larry F. 458 Tony G. 348 Don/Pam P. 355 George G. 348 Tillman/Ash 328 Maybe Paul S. 360 Marty S. 355 This is very close to the number of cars that I wanted. Thanks to all of you who have signed up. Carolyn and I will work the run this Sunday and I will entice your appetite with additional pictures, including 'deadman's turn'.
Don, I like your optimism but I'm still bringing the *starter* 348 (lol!). I'll probably give that old worn-out 355 to my 15-yr-old daughter...
Sorry Jarrett sometimes my optimism gets in the way of my note reading. I have down on my sheet 348--but you know 328 or 348 or 355 or 512 they are all starter cars!
OK. Carolyn and I jumped in the ol trusty Ferrari badged Explorer and pieced the two parts of the run together and it flows quite nicely. The total length is 105 miles and it takes about 2 hours (projected) to travel it. I think that the maximum number of highway miles that we travel, once on the run, is approximately 5 miles and we are on two lane blacktop for about 95% of the time I have included a few more pictures for you to contemplate. As I said in my last longer post I would show you 'deadman's turn' but someone had apparently "boinked" the sign and we almost went off of the road. I will make a notation on the map because if you miss it you will be in some farmer's field or down a nondescript road after being air born for a period of time. I can never remember seeing a turn speed limit in this state marked 10MPH. Here is the updated list; we are now at 18 Ferraris and 1 Maserati. Jarrett M. 348 Brannon M. Mondial Don/Carolyn 512 Jon E. 308 Scott W. 355 Derrick B. Maserati Jano M. 348 Charles C. 328 Greg B. 330 Mike B. 355 Marci H. 355 Larry F. 458 Tony G. 348 Don/Pam P. 355 George G. 348 Tillman/Ashley 328 (maybe) Paul S. 360 Marty S. 355 Ron R. 355 If you wish to participate in this event you must be a member of the FCA. Since time is becoming short please contact me for information concerning membership because I need to know that you have put in an application. My e-mail is [email protected]. OK. I just got permission from the owner of my desired start place to use it. So we now have the start place the restaurant and the run planned. Things are in pretty good shape this early, now we just need to have good weather. I have have had one cancellation so we are at 18 total cars but there are a couple of maybe's. If you are planning on doing the run and you have signed up I need to know if you are going to bring a passenger. This info I need for the restaurant. If you are thinking about doing the run please contact me with your intentions- [email protected]. I will print maps on the 13th or 14th of October. Thanks to all of you who have shown an interest.
I did not have time to do the run this weekend but I will do a finale this Sunday. There should not be any problems and I don't anticipate any construction. I have contacted Jerry with Speciality Carriers and anticipate his help in the case of a breakdown. As usual with an event like this the list is becoming a bit mercurial but we are remaining close to my hoped for level. The following is the current list; Jarrett M Ferrari Brannon M. Ferrari Don/Carolyn Ferrari Scott W. Ferrari Derrick B. Maserati Jano M. Ferrari (maybe) Charles C. Ferrari Greg B. Ferrari Mike B. Ferrari Marci H. Ferrari Tony G. Ferrari Don/Pam P. Ferrari George G. Ferrari Tillman/Ash Ferrari Paul S. Ferrari Marty S. Ferrari Ron R. Ferrari Gene A. Ferrari (maybe) James P. get that car fixed Dave W. Ferrari James I. Ferrari Shannon P. Maserati Raffi M. AMG So that is 19 Ferraris, 2 Maseratis and 1 AMG if the 2 maybes can make it. This week I am out in search of some 'swag' that we can give away at the restaurant, so I am going to see what I can dig up. Also there will be a trophy given away for the best car as judged by the restaurant staff, so that will be our grand prize. If you are thinking about going on the run and therefore joining the FCA- PLEASE- contact me directly as there is no way at this late date I could get your information from the national group. Contact me at [email protected] Also it looks like almost every car has a full contingent so the folks at the restaurant should be very happy to see us. I don't and won't know anything about the TV deal until that day--it is totally a hit and miss deal.
Sunday Carolyn and I jumped in the Ferrari Badged Ferrari and along with a Lamborghini we truly 'Italicized' the route. The roads are very good there has been some construction and it is now no longer a problem. I wanted to get a picture of Deadman's Turn but I need to run the route at speed to see what the elapsed time was going to be. We did however get a picture of the speed sign which has now been reestablished by the road department. I have had a talk with the restaurant and we will get to block off the parking in the front for our cars, the start place is the same and I have managed to get a little swag for some give aways via a drawing. There will also be a restaurant 'choice' award given out-so make sure those cars are shined up. Make sure that you check the oil in your engines and the air pressure in your tires. Fuel will be available at the start location as well as coffee and other items. The start location will be e-mailed to you tomorrow evening. If you do not receive it e-mail me and I will resend. [email protected]. Currently we have 19 Ferraris, 2 Maseratis, and an AMG with two maybes. The weather looks fabulous and if it is a slow news day we may get some screen time. Make sure everything is in tip top shape on your car as this is 112 miles and it takes 2 hrs and 10 minutes running at 70 MPH where possible. Here is the sign. Doors shut at 9:30 AM sharp Saturday the 16th and we are off. See the lucky ones there. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Very nice as I'll be in town this weekend - since I'm not a member I may just stalk you guys in the DSB... Of course the surfboard might make me a little conspicous..
Just make sure the restaurant doesn't block off any of those *blue-striped* parking spaces. Something like that could turn into an unfavorable evening news story...
Another sign that applies! The suspect places are across the lot from us. Image Unavailable, Please Login
What kind of place needs five fire extinguishers all in a row? Oh nevermind...be sure to check those fuel lines & 458 owners must attend at their own risk.
