Wow what a great 3 years...:) For those of you that are new or didn't see my 2 year review here is a recap.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

First let me say what a great two years it's been.

Wow It's already been two year since I bought my 355 10-13-07..:) Here is a little recap of maint. cost

1st yr. I pretty much had to get everything sorted out. Not everything was needed, some I did because I wanted to and others just for the peace of mind.

    30k major
    new tires
    new brakes
    clutch
    left cooling fan
    Fab-speed headers
    Hyper-flow cats
    Tubi exhaust
    challenge grill
    fixed A/C overlay
    fixed diverter flap
    tinted windows
    fixed front K40 sensor

Total maint. cost for 1st year about 17k. I bought the car with 15,731 miles and put 7,032 miles on in the first year.

Total cost per mile for 1st year (not including gas) $2.42 give or take... Ouch!!!

As of today the car has 29,693 miles that's a total of 13,962 miles in two years...:D Total mileage the second year was 6,930

    My second year of maint.

    New oil cooler
    oil change
    lowered the car
    two wheel caps

Total cost for second year of maint. $1,214.00

Total cost per mile for second year .18 cents... That's more like it!!!

Total cost per mile for 1st and 2nd year $1.30 and only getting lower.

I just wanted to show all the people out there thinking about buy a 355 or everyone that has a 355 that once the car is sorted out, it's not that much to drive per mile. And lets face it it's way more fun than some of the other cars that might cost the same $$$ to drive.. Happy driving...

Well it's now been 3 years! She now has 36,487 miles on her..:) Total mileage for the 3rd year is 6,794..:)

    My third year of maint.

    Two year service (all fluids)
Pilot bearing (also had a new clutch put in since they were there)
    4 wheel alignment
    New speed sensor
    New wheel inserts

Total cost for third year of maint. $4,836.00

Total cost per mile for third year .71 cents

Total cost per mile for year 1 - 3 $1.11

This would have been way less if I didn't have to replace the pilot bearing that should have been replaced when I had my clutch out in the first year of ownership. I was told from the dealer (Ferrari Wynn) that they replace them with every new clutch, I guess the indy's don't...:(

Looking forward to another great year of driving...:D

Reg, in my opinion the mods shouldn't count towards the maintenance since they are purely optional. I would only count the repairs and the fluid changes. Just my 2 cents

Agree with that- only pure maintenance cost should be figured.

I don't really want to know these numbers. I might sell the pig outright just to preserve what little of my 401K I have remaining. :)

This is true! But after looking at it again I really only have three thing that wern't maint? Lowering the car, the CH grill, and the Tubi. I needed pretty much everything else..:( so guess I could subtract 3k?

If you re-read the post you would see that's over a years time not all at once! And if you truly have a 355 and added up everything listed you would see 17k is right in line for everything there, there are also cost not listed like having the headers ceramic coated etc...

Anyone else that's had these things replaced think that's out of line for all that's listed in the first year???

The costs are completely in line with my experience. Especially if one is dealing with a Dealer.
I spent $16.5K on mine in the first year doing similar things, though no upgrades, just sorting.

The price seems very reasonable to me in that he put on a Tubi Exhaust (+/- $4,000), Fabspeed headers ($3,000), Hyperflow cats ($2,300) and new tires ($1,200), just these items total $10,500, leaving only $6,500 for a 30,000 mile engine out major, brake work and a new clutch. These costs seem to be in line or lower than what I have or my friends who own 355s have experienced, and he has fixed the known flaws of bad headers and cats for good. There is no such thing as a cheap Ferrari.

What the owner paid for the car is irrelevant to what the maintenance costs will be. As others said, you are missing all the upgrades he did at the same time....but regardless, the price paid does not change the high maintenance costs on a car that originally cost $150k+.

People fall into this trap all the time, buying a used BMW or Mercedes on the cheap, and forget that it doesn't matter if they paid $7k for it, when it was new it was a $70k car and that doesn't change the maintenance costs.

+1, With how low the prices have gotten on a lot of the high dollar cars, I expect we will see a lot more neglect of maintenance and "story" cars hitting the market whether its AMG Mercedes, BMW M cars, Lambos, Ferraris, or Porsches.

+1 As someone who will need to do another major in a year or so I've wondered if it's worth doing it and keeping it or selling it and moving on??? I have such a hard time thinking about putting another 7k for a major into a car that's now worth 45k to 50k..:( 15% to 20% of the cars value..:(

That's where grabbing the wrenches yourself comes in. $1500 every 5 years for parts isn't too bad.

Super thread - it'd definitely be helpful to aspiring Ferrari owners to see more maintenance cost threads like this. :D

    All the best,
